  7. That's one that eluded me for a long while but came across a copy in a used CD rack in London years ago for £5 ! It's a good one. That VEE series was the DOG'S BOLLOCKS of jazz CD reissues.
  8. "Heading to the UK, Marc Bolan of T. Rex urged the creative dynamo to start writing for herself." Fascinating !
  9. No problem. Truly sad story in any event, especially with regard to Woody Shaw. I think Bob Holland had a lot to do with Timeless Records, back in the day (the Gavin book has a whole section on this, must dig it out later).
  10. Surely Mr Cuscuna could put this out as a Mosaic Select with some alternates added? (Pretty Please).
  11. does it say a year? i vaguely remember, that Chet Baker's manager could not look after Chet in the days before his death so he brought him to some other guy in Amsterdam who had the right, uh, connections and was regularly hosting musicians with these problems; well and that guy was hosting Woody Shaw, too, at that time and iirc Frank Mitchell; will look it up in de Valk... (that would have been 1989(?)) Wasn't that Frank Wright and not Frank Mitchell? (presumably this is referring to 'Bob Holland' - but based in Rotterdam I think).
  12. Which of those tuning feet optons would you use on an LP12? My LP12 came with the Trampolin base board and feet but in the end I removed the feet and put on some alternatives. The improvement was immediate !
  13. Hank Mobley 'Workout' (BN 47W63rd/NY USA mono). Bliss !
  14. Oh s*&&t - had one of these with a 'company logo' on it. At least it was free. Last seen in use for doing oil changes on the car. Currently MIA
  15. "specify the Ekos SE tonearm, Akiva cartridge and Trampolin base board" Definitely not ! (asuming they are referring to this damn suspension system as well).
  16. They've definitely lost the plot.
  17. Talking of mega-effective upgrades for not too many bucks, I just fitted a new heavier counterweight this weekend to my turntable arm (Naim Aro), as part of a cartridge upgrade. The difference is astonishing.
  18. Wayne Shorter 'The Collector' (King) Grant Green 'Matador' (King)
  19. Another sunburn this afternoon. Just packed the deckchairs away before the frost comes in.

  21. Also heard some of this music on a NYC radio station whilst I was in town a few years ago, a tribute show for Elmo Hope with Bertha Hope as the show's guest. 4-5 hours show !
  22. Barry Davies John Motson Kenneth Wolstenholme
  23. The only LP I've seen from him is that Apollo Sound Library LP called 'Contemporary Music Formation'. The one with all the test tubes and stuff on the cover.
