  3. Booker Ervin 'Structurally Sound' (Pacific Jazz stereo) With Charles Tolliver. Freddie Hubbard 'Breaking Point' (BN NY USA mono)
  4. Lou Donaldson 'Alligator Bogaloo' (BN Liberty stereo)
  5. Grant Green 'Live at the Lighthouse' (BN, Division of UA 2LPs) Good music, though the instruments could have used some tuning . Some 'period piece' spaced out announcing though.
  6. Nice one ! Alas, only have it on CD.
  7. 'Tha Atlantic Years - The Art of Freddie Hubbard' (Atlantic 2LP)
  8. That would have to be a very good copy. Postscript - same copy seems to have gone for $900 on a 'buy it now'.
  9. I'm a fan of that Esquire 'For Lady' cover. It's not 'better' than the original but it holds up very well as cover art I think. The drawing, by the way, was done by John Marshall. I'll bet that the vinyl sounds better on the Esquire though.
  10. 'Gerry Mulligan Quartet' (Pacific Jazz 10" DG mono, PJLP2) Roland Kirk 'Kirks Work' (Esquire mono) - kicks ass ! Various - 'Fuzzy Felt Folk' (Trunk Records)
  11. Don Rendell/Ian Carr Quintet 'Change Is' (Columbia Lansdowne stereo)
  12. Yes, he's lived there for many years (at least since the 70s - or maybe the 60s). Came to prominence over here with Humphrey Lyttleton's band on baritone prior to heading to the US. Very fine 'mainstream' player - as mentioned he has been a constant in the New York Jazz Repertory Orchestra, Lincoln Center Orchestra etc. Also saw him featured with Wynton on 'Single Petal' on one of those Lincoln Center Orchestra tours.
  13. Track 12 is the Jazz Crusaders. Must be from that Pacific Jazz album with Groove Holmes (which I don't have and is not on the Mosaic ). Felder/Henderson front line unison sound is unmistakable.
  14. Track 1 - Tenor player sounds like it could be Don Wilkerson but I haven't a clue about the organ player or performance. Track 2 - A lost George Braith performance? The recording of the mid sized band has the sonics that I associate with 1960s RVG and the arrangement sounds a bit Oliver-Nelsonish. Track 4 is the Al Cohn/Zoot Sims Quartet...
  15. Good chance I think that BBC Radio 3 will record it for 'Jazz on 3' then make it available for 1 week on the Internet.
  16. Sonny Fortune 'Awakening' (A&M Horizon).
  17. Well, back to work for more TPF Reports..
  18. DJ Gilles Peterson has been using Amp Fidler on gigs over this side of the pond.
  19. Very nice Brownie. Presumably originally broadcast on Dutch TV?
  20. Michael Garrick 'Jazz Praises From St Pauls' - from French TV ! A miraculous find. With Ian Carr (tpt), Art Themen and Jim Philips (sax/clt). This is the music that was issued on a rare Garrick LP (Airborne).
  21. I'm sure I've seen that penguin guy on the TV over here. Programme called 'Eurotrash' !
  22. No refunds for a Mosaic set or two?
  23. Delia Derbyshire Ron Grainer Patrick McGoohan
