  1. Good to see this thread re-appear again, Erik. No-one has mentioned 'Sex and the City' star Kim Cattrall yet. She selected Coltrane's 'My Favourite Things' as one of her desert island disks for the BBC some time back.
  2. You don't need no pardon mate! MG The London "builder" cowboys are all rubbing their hands in anticipation of the overtime at time-and-a-half +++ whilst they brew up their Nth pot of tea at the back of their white vans.
  3. Victor Feldman Trio 'Stop The World I Want To Get Off - The Jazz Version' (World Pacific mono)
  4. Only if it was signed.
  5. 'The Artful Dodger' on Concord is worth checking out too. A bit '1970s' in terms of sound but it's an entertaining listen. Just spinning the World Pacific LP 'Stop The World, I Want To Get Off', which is a trio date. Also have his Venezuelan-theme PC LP too and the Vee Jay where he 'plays everything in sight', will dig those out tonight if I can find them.
  6. My first thought too !
  7. Miles Davis 'We Want Miles' (UK CBS 2LP) Some nice production work from Teo on this one ! 'Back Seat Betty' rocks.
  8. What is this one like, Bob? Nearly bought it on Ebay recently and I changed my mind. 'The Quintessence' is a great album, Yves. Great soloists of the calibre of Freddie Hubard and Phil Woods. I'm disappointed with the UK black label reissue pressing though (one I've had for years), sound level is low. Worth going for an original. The Oliver Nelson is very nice too and sounds superb in the red/black pressing.
  9. There's 'The Arrival of Victor Feldman' and 'Suite 16', both of which should be available on OJCs. Miles' Seven Steps To Heaven' of course has some tracks featuring Feldman, recorded in LA. Some great Cannonball Adderley Riversides featuring Feldman - my personal favourite is 'At The Lighthouse'. Several fine sessions recorded for Columbia with JJ Johnson, all collected on the Johnson Mosaic. Also fine Tempo material under Feldman's name, which can be found on some Jasmine CDs ('Victor Feldman In London') - recorded before and just after his emigration to the USA. Various sessions under own name also on Pacific Jazz, Vee Jay and Concord. A phenomenal talent !
  10. Abramovich Sir Alex Ferguson Bestie
  11. Quincy Jones 'The Quintessence' (Impulse UK 70s reissue) Oliver Nelson 'Live In Los Angeles' (Impulse red/black)
  12. Obviously pressed in Uranus !
  13. Literally just arrived in my email from Stamford - "MOSAIC CONTEMPORARY While the Mosaic Records Boxed Set encompasses everything this company was built on and will continue to be our most important contribution, over the last few years we have embarked on a number of different series. We have expanded the Mosaic Records imprint with Mosaic Selects and Mosaic Singles. Since our inception, our mission has been to fill a vacuum where the established recording industry is lax. Even in our flagship Mosaic Records boxed sets, we have ventured beyond jazz to present worthy sets by Otis Spann, Charles Brown, The Four Freshmen and Amos Milburn. Now we are introducing a line of single CDs under the banner Mosaic Contemporary which will be made available at Retail upon release. This line is inaugurated by artists that emerged in the '70s and appeal to what is now called an adult audience. These artists flourished in the genres called fusion, contemporary jazz and quiet storm R & B. They include Jaco Pastorious, Freddie Hubbard, Hubert Laws, Patti Austin and George Duke and they are artists defined by a unique identity. We hope to bring the same discerning ear to this era and genre(s) as we have to all forms of music we produce. What David Sanborn, George Benson and Joe Zawinul have in common more than any other musical characteristics are their individuality and the audience to which all three appeal. Our goal is to rescue forgotten classics and to present the music for that audience with high quality packaging and remastering. We are in the process of building a Mosaic Contemporary website but for now you may preorder any of these from our True Blue Music site at http://www.truebluemusic.com . Or if you're lucky enough to have a record store nearby hopefully they have stocked some copies. The following sale prices are effective through April 15th."
  14. Two more to dream for: Mosaic to do a 'Complete Michael Garrick Argo Sessions' and a 'Complete Joe Harriott Columbia Lansdowne' or even: 'The Complete Lansdowne Modern Jazz Sessions 1960-70'
  15. Joe Henderson 'Page One' (BN NY USA mono)
  16. Kenny Wheeler 'Windmill Tilter' (Fontana stereo)
  17. I really hope they are doing OK (and this should be a prompt for me to advance a modest next order). Over the last few weeks I've seen my favourite hi-fi dealer having to downsize thanks to outrageous hikes in rents, then there have been numerous vinyl store disappearances. All of the great and interesting places that made perusing/shopping fun seem to be hitting the dust. To be replaced by faceless mobile phone outlets, crappy nick-nack shops and so-called 'womens fashion/accessory boutiques'. It's time for us to exercise our collective Mosaic $ muscle (what's left of it, that is).
  18. With heavy hail pounding down outside ( ) its time for: Hilton Ruiz 'El Camino (The Road)' (RCA Novus). With Sam Rivers and Dick Griffin.
  19. Shari Lewis Charlie Horse Lamb Chop
  20. Once again, according to the BBC forecast it looks as if I might well miss the white stuff.
  21. To be honest Yves there is a guy who does a local delivery in this neck of the woods but I've never made use of it. I can remember though when this method was pretty well used by everyone over here - that started to change during the 1980s I guess. The major milk suppliers (e.g. Unigate) have really cut back their service.
  22. Reminds me a of a crazy scuba incident from years back, diving under a pier. Buddy diver came up from behind me in murk to my RH side holding a discarded dogfish head and moving it into my peripheral RH field of view. I almost had a fit - looked like a shark inches away from my mask !!
