  1. Have a Happy Birthday !! (hopefully not too wet )
  2. Hope it is a good one !
  3. Yep, that one is a favourite of mine too. Will dig it out today.
  4. Thanks very much, Ubu. Still loading disk 3. It will be a while before I hear this stuff though as I'm steadily working my way through 'other such material'
  5. I've been a huge fan of that session with Hammer ever since it came out on that 'Prime Element' twofer vinyl set, back in the day. Absolutely no 'Miami Vice' - he is locked into a deep modal vein. Hugely under-rated session, which has stunning work from Elvin too !
  6. Swell, here's mine: That's currently available on a twofer. And at the excellent Teutonic bargain shop for low price (at least it was last time I looked www.zweitausendeins.de - I think I paid 3 Euros for it.) That's where I got it, too - it didn't leave my CD player for several days! It's a real good 'un
  7. Happy birthday !
  8. Happy Birthday !
  9. Happy Birthday !
  10. Thanks for the advisory. I'll add that to the list along with 'Last Waltz'.
  11. He was in fairly rough shape but it didn't affect the music or his playing. My memories of 2 consecutive nights at Ronnie Scotts during Summer of 1980 are getting hazy these days but seem to recall him being assisted to the piano on at least one occasion and it could have been by Helen Keane. Listening to the Mosaic vinyl brought back vividly the intimacy of the gig and of the repertoire of that time. On one of those nights there were only 15 or so fans left in the audience for the 1am late show and you could get seated right up front. Almost like a private recital. His playing was significantly better on the late shows.
  12. Many thanks ! Those Jasmine reissues are great. And they don't cost £1k a pop like some of the originals.
  13. Wow - didn't realise that this one was also out on vinyl.
  14. Yep - and it can be very annoying ! The problem seemed to start from the late 60s Liberty era onwards - some of those 'Division of Liberty Records' pressings can be particularly prone. It's a shame BN didn't continue using Plastylite right through to the 70s.
  15. Hope they don't head inland ! Batten Down The Hatches
  16. John Surman composed and performed in tandem with a French dance company back in the 1970s I believe - not sure if it was ballet.
  17. Arrived today? Good listening! MG Thanks ! So far through to disk 3 and there's some stunning playing on there. Just spinning disk 1 of the Joe Pass. Malcolm Addey has done another great mastering job and the music is great too. Two excellent sets !
  18. At least the title of the LP and the artist name are both visible. Jeez - can it get worse?
  19. The Amazing Randi The Amazing Mets Amazing Grace Gracie Fields Joe Fields WC Fields
  20. Related to the Prince of Darkness?
  21. Same thing happened to me. Liberty mono copy in shrink-wrap that had apparently sat in a cupboard somewhere in the States for eons before being bought by a London store dealer.
  22. So how is the 'Prairie Dog'? Picked up the 'Dedication' CD not too long ago - I'd held off that one for quite some time. Well worth getting hold of IMO - there's always something of interest in all of the DP sessions that I have come across.
  23. Lots of Stitt on the go amongst the board membership at the moment. Just spinning disk 1 with the Johnny Richards material. So far this set is a winner ! Will follow up with some Joe Pass.
