  1. Here's a link to th page on the Sonar Kollektiv site over in Germany. No mention of a version on LP - just CD and MP3 ( ). Hopefully they will re-think that one? A bit more emphasis on moody Iron Curtain/Slavic music on this set, it would appear. Sound samples sound great (that 'Swingin' Macedonia' LP came out on Philips and (in UK) Columbia, I believe). Sonar Kollektiv
  2. Strange - I've never had a problem with it.
  3. Thanks for the heads-up. Sounds like a 'must see'. Always wanted to see a gig by THE Donald.
  4. I use an external Soundblaster card connected to a USB port on my PC and (via a USB extension lead, the line interface on the Soundblaster and custom adapter cable) to one of the output sockets on my pre-amp. Used with the Creative Smart Recorder software - gives fine results at up to 98 kHz. Often, the results are even better than the issued CD.
  5. Hank Mobley 'Workout' (BN 47W63rd/NY USA mono)
  6. Feels that way at times ! Nah - internet was down earlier so just filling in tonights playlist.
  7. Horace Silver 'The Jody Grind' (BN Liberty mono)
  8. Sonny Clark 'Leapin' and Lopin' (BN NY USA stereo)
  9. Just caught the tail end of this show. That fine saxophonist Toni Kofi (big fan of Larry ) provided the verbal commentary. Last track was a great selection from 'Love, Cry, Want'.
  10. I'll second that. I have Vol 1 on vinyl (to be pulled out for listening tonight) but so far have not seen vinyl for Vol 2. I notice that 'Dusty' has got the Vol 2 on CD.
  11. Thanks for the heads up. I know what I'm listening to after work on the car radio tomorrow !
  12. That recording of 'Perdido' was actually done in LA for the 'Frankly Jazz' show, I believe. I have it on tape.
  13. Woops. Typing too fast !
  14. Good reminder. I'll dig this Mosaic out tonight.
  15. It was in the Med, off the North Coast of Sardinia. Just saw the reaction of the diver when he put his hand on it (looked like a mini epileptic fit - no 'zap' visible from the ray). Painfull but not too dangerous. Before the dive he was mouthing off about how great a diver he was - this shut him up. The real 'nasty' though is the stone fish, which you get in the Red Sea. Stand on one of those and you can be dead within 30 minutes from herat failure. Incidentally, the electric ray is not that big - sort of like a small 'squarish' sting ray and with a speckled pattern on its back. Quite distinctive. As for stingrays, we sometimes get them off the UK coast and they seem to be prolific in the warm water at the outlets of nuclear power stations on the SE coast !
  16. The rays must have turned on mankind ! Incidentally, in the past I have often swum on scuba dives over very sedentary sting rays, without any hassle from them whatsoever. They usually like to camouflage themselves in the sand and hide away and often only their faint impression in the sand gives them away. I once saw an idiot diver get zapped by an electric ray however. Served him right..
  17. A (late) Many Happy Returns ! Have enjoyed your LP sleevenotes over the years immendely !
  18. And VG- ! (must be trashed)
  19. 'Sonny Rollins Vol 2' (BN 47W63rd DG mono)
  20. Wow ! Maybe I'll see mine tomorrow?
  21. Yes, that is the UK Fontana cover. If I recall, this one is compiled from two sessions - side 1 has tracks from 'What The Dickens' and side 2 tracks from a slightly later session.
  22. That's a very good LP. Fine sampling of some of Lee Morgan's best on Blue Note.
  23. Excuses, excuses! We know you were in there, telling yourself secrets. MG
  24. I like 'em too !
