  1. This 1/5th are just a bunch of layabout freeloaders who think they'll have an easy time over there !
  2. Absolutely ! That 'Hipnosis' is one of the best sounding Kings I have heard - and a super session too.
  3. What, 'Dance With Death'? Oops, I sometimes let my feelings of Hill's overratedness slip out... sorry! I wish I had some other King LPs to balance it out, but I keep getting outbid on Poppin'. No problem ! I have the King 'Dance With Death' and a few of the others ('Hypnosis', 'Sonic Boom', 'Tippin The Scales', the two Bobby Hutchersons ('Oblique'/'Inner Glow') and a couple of the Grant Greens). I'm a big fan re: the sound of this series and the cover art. Don't have the 'Poppin' but it's on the Mobley Mosaic set I think.
  4. Jazz-625 'Tribute to Charlie Parker' 1964, Shepherds Bush Empire, by the sound of it. McGhee kicks ass ! Walter Bishop Jr/Tommy Potter/Kenny Clarke.
  5. What, 'Dance With Death'?
  6. Nope - I've got the 'Parkertown' pressing The middle one (King) would be pretty rare I think. It would be a challenge even for Mr. Tanno ! Enjoyed side 1 of the 'Conn' and can recommend it without reservation.
  7. Nice one ! I have the original "Rainbow series" LP, but the cover looks so dull that I'm thinking of getting a copy of the Connoisseur LP, or even the CD, just because it would probably make me bring out this one more often. How's the sound on those Connoisseur LPs? Just spinning this one at this very moment. Nice ! The 'Patterns' is a 'Wally' pressing and this particular one came from Mr. Tanno I think so is in absolutely immaculate condition. I like the sleeve art on the 'Conn' too !
  8. Up with this thread. A fine performance of 'Napoli's Walls' at the 2004 Bath Festival can now be accessed via the 'other site.'
  9. I have to say that I'm glad that Mosaic Records isn't within car distance from me. If it was I'd now be doing a 'Tower Records'.

Is the Japanese Fontana in stereo, Tooter?
  11. Nice one ! Just been spinning 'The Atlantic Years - The Art of Freddie Hubbard' 2LP set. The 'Sing Me a Song of Songmy' and 'High Blues Pressure' material.
  12. Not even to call in at Mosaic Records?
  13. Throughly enjoying this set. The 1985 material from 'Forest National', Brussels is not to missed for those partial to 80s Miles. He's in fine lip, the band are driving and much of the material is from the elusive 'Rubber Band' era. Intriguing - as the repertoire I heard in London a few months earlier was quite a bit different to this (John Scofield was also in the lineup too).
  14. That's great news ! Very cool - and Pat's a genuinely nice guy.
  15. Tony Crombie 'Atmosphere' - UK Columbia. Lovely green-label mono original, with Tubby Hayes.
  16. 'Cosmic Tones For Mental Therapy' and 'Monorails and Satellites' would be hard to beat. As would Frank Wright's 'Church Number Nine'
  17. European beer beats that Yankee *** water once again !
  18. Here's the 'Blue Bird': This one and 'Pithycanthropus' were also reissued in the USA on the Prestige 'Reincarnation of a Lovebird' twofer.
  19. Look's like the Buddy Rich is a straight reissue of the UK 2LP RCA set. Sound was always a bit '2-dimensional' but the band is roaring and there's some memorarable repartee between Buddy and Ronnie Scott (whenever these two started joking together on stage it was always a good laugh ). The atmosphere is captured very well indeed - recommended. Nice version of 'Milestones' and some fine arrangements from the likes of Don Piestrup ( ) and Bill Holman.
  20. Charles Mingus 'Music Written For Monterey, 1965..' (Charles Mingus)
  21. Freddie Roach 'All That's Good' (BN NY USA mono) Ike Quebec Mosaic '45 sessions' set
