  1. Storyville issued a set of the 1943 Hurricane broadcasts - "At the Hurricane". Other 1943 Hurricane tracks are on volumes 15 & 16 of the Treasury Shows.

I think you have to use one of these forms to have it embedded: "www.youtube.com/embed/shortcut" or "youtu.be/shortcut". The latter URL is generated when you click the "share" button on the video.

  6. Presto Classical has a page of EMI Icon sets on sale: http://www.prestoclassical.co.uk/emi-icons.php
  7. No kidding. I've gotten a good price on a lot of these sets on sale, but, wow, in a few cases, I wish I had held back. The Mackerras EMI set for under $10! Ogdon for $32 (maybe not that much lower than I paid). They even have a good deal on the The Heifetz Piatigorsky Concerts RCA set that Ubu is thinking of (and I may spring for as well). It looks like the sale will go until the very first days of April, so I have a little while to make up my mind. Have any recommendations?
  8. Belated thanks for the birthday wishes! I spent the day in Santa Fe at a B&B with poor internet access. Saw the Georgia O'Keefe museum and a photography gallery with some great Ansel Adams prints. (He shares my birthday, happy 101st!). Then went through the badlands to Chimayo to visit the studio of 7th generation master weaver, Irvin Trujillo.
  9. I've seen Oregon in Pennsylvania, but not with Elvin.
  10. In a Silent Corner on the Way.
  11. I especially like his records with Pepper Adams. Not commenting on his work with the Mizell Brothers but I ran across this off topic item: "As an electrical engineer, Larry Mizell performed testing and reliability work on the Lunar Module for the NASA Apollo program. He was one of the first to do research on liquid crystals, which today are used for example in LCD displays."
  12. Dunmall is under $4 per disc.

  14. $32.99 at Popmarket.

  18. Will the European DVD be playable in the US?
  19. Decided to give Fringe a try. I wasn't thrilled with the first two episodes, but I just watched and I was more drawn in -- it seemed to be more coherent.
  20. How is Reel Recording's Soft Machine release?
