Damn-- it's like arriving at a party after the booze has run out! I gotta quit my job so I can be on the board 24/7

Thanks for all of the replies. I'll be off to the local store this weekend.

0.09% I'm heading over to the lurker's thread where I belong.

It's time for me to pick these up on cd, but I'm confused as to which is the better remastering. I don't have a SACD player, but is the remastering better on the hybrids? Thanks for the help.

count me in as a fan! (although I don't have any of her live stuff) she's cute! Have you checked out her web site? She has some non-album and live downloads avail Actually you probably have since I bet that's where you got the picture

"New Haven tundra?" I'm a bit north of you looking at my thermometer as it reads -10 degrees. Unfortunately, most of the snow is supposed to miss us and hit you guys. I’m jealous! I like nothing better that to be hunkered down in front of a blazing fire, jazz on the stereo, a drink in my hand, watching the snow fall. We have had a relatively dry winter so far. And this was the winter I was going to take up cross-country skiing. Maybe next year. Enjoy the storm!

Don't forget that Metheny covered "Giant Steps" on his "Trio Live" CD, so I doubt his quote should be interpreted as a personal rejection of Jazz history, nor a rejection of its major practitioners.

I thought it was the ELO calendar with the cut-out spaceship in the center. Now that would be cool!

I'm thinking of joining, and I saw on the web site that they have a "Tell a friend" program. You get 10 free downloads if I join. emusic Tell a Friend So, the first one who send a referal to me gets the 10 free! Claypone aka Alec adamsa@adelphia.net Win-win for everyone!

Ah, Jazz, freedom, and tolerance. They go together so well. . . Unless you happen to price something in a way someone else doesn’t like . . . Amir—perhaps you need to see someone about your obsession with round numbers. Are you really saying you’d rather pay more for the CDs? Or that you were momentarily confused thinking a $4.95 CD was closer to $4.00 than $5.00 and when the realization that it wasn’t struck you, you felt foolish and had to lash out? Get a grip, count to ten, and try to concern yourself with something important, and not, literally, nickel and dime shit.

I feel sorry for Verve! On one hand they get a "Fuck Verve" from Bertrand because he doesn't like the expense, lack of covers and liner notes, and limitations in downloading and track breaks. (all valid concerns, let me add) On the other hand, if these were not available they would get a "Fuck Verve" for not making their back catalog available. Damned if they do, damned if they don't

Abution, I sent you an email a few days ago-I'm interested! Claypone

Thanks all for the good wishes! I think now that I am 44 I get to have a mid-life crisis. Although, instead of the sports car, I'll bid like mad on some oop Mosaics on ebay. At least those will be worth something in the divorce settlement B-) (Okay, the Mosaics are covered by the pre-nup agreement ) Anyway, had a nice dinner out, so wine and now some good jazz(Mosaic's Art Farmer/Benny Golson/Jazztet Sessions. Now on to the Mosaic website to use up my gift certificate from my grandma (my wife presented me with a fancy toaster, really ) Thanks again for the good wishes!

Count me in for this one I loved the Sarah Vaughan and the Peggy Lee/June Christy sets. (I haven't yet ponied up for the Anita O'Day set) Even cheeze wiz can't kill that VOICE!

A little while ago, I bid on and won a fairly cheap Bobby Hackett set on ebay. Unfortunatly, a week later the seller refunded my money saying he couldn't find all the cds or the box. (I wasn't pleased that he sold something he didn't really have). So imagine my surprise today when a package from the seller arrived at my door. It wasn't the Hackett, but "The Classic Columbia and Okeh Joe Venuti and Eddie Lang Sessions." Inside the box was a packing slip with the real buyer's information. I debated keeping it (okay, it wasn't a long debate) and quickly emailed the seller to send me some $$ for postage and I'd send it off to its rightful owner. Now since I have good karma I should find a cheap Thad Jones/ Mel Lewis Mosaic at my used cd store this week! B-)

I use Music Collector and I'm a big fan. For me it does just what I want it to. That you can use a bar code reader (I use an old CueCat) made it much easier to first enter my over 3,000 titles. It can search CDDB, Amazon (US, JP, DE), All Music Guide, plus a few others. It's not perfect, but, as I said, it works for me. Follow this link and you can try it for free. Music Collector home page

I picked the Sox in five, but I don't really care. I'm hoping that they win so I won't have to hear anything more about the damned "curse"!

I want to make something perfectly clear...
Alec replied to undergroundagent's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
I've bought tons of CDs from Underground and never had a problem. From my standpoint he is an honest man of his word. If I could, I'd drive to Canada and give him a big hug! -
I have to give another shout out for XTC's "Coat of Many Cupboards"---great stuff by a great band. I also love their "Transistor Blast" BBC sessions stuff. And yes, I have and love the Rhino ELP set (although I have most of the individual cds. Last but not least--- The Monkees "Listen to the Band" set. Ahhh, pure bliss (except for the end of the fourth disc).
