  1. Al! Glad you're posting!
  2. Reread some Spirit items lately. Eisner rules!
  3. I hear it the way Guy does. . . .
  4. My interest in Bu as a drummer wanes, and my interest in this style of jazz wanes. . . . But you need to get the Three Blind Mice cds.
  5. Right. I'm less and less a Hart fan as time goes by and love Kreutzman, so that flavors my period of interest as well. I actually like Donna most of the time. . . . An acquired taste for sure. I'm lucky enough to be in the pipeline for a Fillmore box and boy would I like a 1972 Europe box!
  6. If I had unlimited funds, I'd do the same as Evonce says he would. Undoubtedly it is going to sound better than the domestic box. I've had the domestic box for a long time. . . . Have some of the sessions in upgrades. . . . Couldn't justify getting the box set but if I had big dollars to spend and didn't have these sessions, this would be the way to go.
  7. Yes, that Archive is a great resource. I've downloaded all of 1975 and the studio items and then decided to put a check to my downloading. I'd rather buy the cd releases, and I have more than I can honestly listen to right now (not that that will stop me from getting more!) I saw the Dead several times between 72 and 75. . . . Coincidentally that's my favorite period to collect! The material previous to that just doesn't hold my interest as much generally, but boy is there great music in there. I've never quite taken to any of the material after that with anyone on the keys but Keith. Not sure why.
  8. If you don't count Japanese releases, there are a number of potential ones. . At Newport, Angel Eyes, the Southern one, Impressions of the USA, etc.
  9. OD: Welcome! Nice first post!
  10. A former boss of mine insisted it should be wise-ass. As many times as he was called that, he should at least be allowed to use it that way!
  11. Well, in my opinion the Twardzik material is the real gem of this collection, but the Rowles material is excellent as well. The Fisher is good. . . you may have that (?). . . . It's really hard to say what someone else would feel is "worth the money." If you're a big Rowles fan I'd say it may well be.
  12. You're memory (in this matter) is on target Jim.
  13. I'd love to see a cd of "Anything Goes". . . . Two tracks have been on cd in a compilation in the early years but man as you say it's a swinging, great session that could be nicely expanded and presented!
  14. I have 24bit XRCDs in lp facimiles of the four "in'" Miles sessions. . . . They sound wonderful to me. (I got them for a ridiculously good price from the late Mr. Price).
  15. My last physical showed my cholseterol levels were now considered high (mainly because they have re-evaluated what THEY consider high levels, and because of family history of arterial disease) and I was challenged to lower it by altering food habits before having to take pills. I did drop almost all dairy and red and fatty meat from my diet and it was not easy. I LIVED for ice cold milk. . . and it took quite a while for me to learn to enjoy ice cold SOY milk. . . . But it did happen, I know DO enjoy it. That was the hardest thing to adjust to. I have been successful so far in lowering my levels to a point where my doctor feels I don't have to take pills. I don't want to take pills, so I'm glad that is the case, and this gives me fuel to keep at it.
  16. Congratulations!
  17. Many more happy ones Maren!
  18. Many more happy ones!
  19. Clint, I have that Relaxin' SACD from yourmusic.com It's very nice. It's an OJC SACD, NOT a Mobile Fidelity SACD. I don't care. On my player cd playback never sounded better, SACD sounds great, but I'm not going to go seeking out multiple versions of things on SACD. Or on cd much any longer. . . . That Relaxin OJC SACD has incredible sound.
  20. I'll probably get the Hall cd sooner or later; I'm a big fan as well. I dig all those players on your list though to be honest I would put Pee Wee Russell and maybe Ernie Caceras up above them!
  21. He might have changed his statement by 1965!

    Shadow Wilson

He had this marvelous way of supporting the music that made you just forget about the drums in a way, and just hear the whole musical expression happening. That's really a disservice to HIM perhaps, but a huge service to the music.
