  1. Bartz and Liebman are my favorites. . . must say. And on those rare occasions when there was tenor from Lieberman or Grossman (apparently often edited out of any official release) to be heard it was really nice! Bartz was my favorite soprano saxohponist of the batch.
  2. I can't find it right now, but I've seen a scan of a Thelonious Monk lp on Fontana called "Far Out" (I think) that was very similar. . . .
  3. So glad to hear you are all safe!
  4. I guess I like it more. I like his political works. . . it is of its time and yet also seems timely almost any now. And I like the chanting and buildups and don't think they go on too long at all. I wish they would put it out as a domestic cd as well. . . . The Impulses they put out now in the LP By Request series (or whatever it is) sure are nice . . . .
  5. What about the Bernstein and Brubeck one (not sure of the exact title?) That would be cool to hear.
  6. Rebecca's Children: Judaism and Christianity in the Roman World, by Alan F. Segal.
  7. But isn't it like #200 on Billboard sales? Which is still great.
  8. Right. And "Free" is part of the Farmer-Golson Mosaic set, which has so many great sessions within it that it and the Jazz Crusaders box sets are among the best values available in jazz. "Things Have Got to Change" I really like and wish it were available domestically. I have a K2 Impulse cd from Japan, and the iTunes version is a digital clone of that.
  9. Sorry ASN, I wasn't quite awake yet. I have the cd version of that Master Jazz set. I would never NOT buy a Master Jazz session. This is a great set. I also highly recommend the Earl Hines cds that are NOT a part of this set (there is only one track shared) and the Roy Eldgridge, Jimmy Rushing. . . . Anything on that label I think is high quality jazz produced with a level head.
  10. Here's a link to the Mosaic website discography of the cd set. In print cd set discography on Mosaic's webstie I enjoy this set a lot, but I'm a PIANO LOVER. If you love piano and piano playing I have no fear you would like this one a lot. I can't imagine NOT being a piano lover, so I can't put myself into an objective stance to give a less biased opinion!
  11. Yeah. A good one. But then all my life with my mom's parents Welk was on whenever Welk was on. So. . . I'm not a real Weld detractor!
  12. That echo added sure was a bit much though!
  13. What, screw it if it doesn't come out! Oh ye of little apetite!
  14. Sounds like someone is sticking it to THE (Columbia) MAN!
  15. It's really great isn't it, and I love that they added that cool stuff to the original lp material!
  16. Agreed, nice session!
  17. Yes, yes. Sometimes Coltrane only turned up to 8 or 9 is just right!
  18. I like that Zurich a lot as well.
  19. Pete Losin's excellent Miles Ahead website seems to only list the Royal Jazz release, so I would bet that's all folks. . . . http://www.plosin.com/milesAhead/Sessions.aspx?s=600324
  20. The best sound I personally have heard on the Paris material is the Sony/Trema versions in those cool black digipaks. . . . I haven't heard the Laser Light versions though. . . . I don't know of any other release of the Copenhagen material, or of any extra material available. . . .
  21. Kevin, I don't believe any of these tracks on the Lonehill are from Copenhagen. "Den Haag" is in the Netherlands. (Correct?) Yet another attempt by Lonehill to confuse collectors into considering buying what they already have by shifting title and/or leader credits.
  22. These four were also issued on separate digipaks from Trema/Sony and sound pretty damned good.
  23. I agree, and the Stockholm stuff . . . second. Fantastic release that Dragon (or DIW)!
