  1. Yes, you ought to get it. Also. . . I think the review above from the Steve Audiowartnuts Forum is not as enthusiastic as is appropriate for the Baggy's Rehearsal disc. But maybe that's just me.
  2. What a cool Slim Harpo cover! You can almost "hear" it! I last bought the new Blue Note Connoisseur additions to yourmusic.com and all shipped but the Quebec which was backordered (gee, I'll just have to live with the Mosaic version til it ships!)
  3. Bol, that is great music, will make a nice set! Guy, wow, good suggestion; I would buy that Select if they add unissued material.
  4. Isn't it a true-ism or a truth that Mosaic won't be able to listen former-fantasy label items? (That may be changed now with the Concord acquisition, but I wouldn't be surprised if it hasn't). That would be one reason that there is no Tjader set. That would leave mostly Universal sessions, right?
  5. I recently flipped myself out yet again to the beautiful duets between Tommy Flanagan and Barry Harris on several Monk tunes on the BMG video "Thelonious Monk: An American Composer." Outstanding! I also have a soft spot in my musical heart for a Savoy lp that paired Eddie Costa and John Mehegan, "A Pair of Pianos." Also like the odd but great "The Country And Western Sound of Toshiko Akiyoshi and Steve Kuhn" on I think Audio Fidelity.
  6. Wow. . . Tyrone Washington "Do Right"
  7. I'm looking forward to an upcoming Bob Weir cd. . . "Weir Plays Weil" . . . . I hear the first single will be "Me and My Uncle Mack the Knife."
  8. Just read the Hoffman forum. . . .It reproduces the Hendrix site message. . . . I still haven't received mine, but that's good, means I'm going to receive a corrected copy I believe!
  9. Wonderful sessions. Swingin' and expert players. Another bootleg production!
  10. Alright, it's okay. . . four a day. . . seems a reasonable limit! I've had the bootleg for a while. It's listenable. This should be an improvement though. Pretty good performance. . .even though it was a disaster of a day for the band!
  11. Cool. Don't forget Hear My Music. . .
  12. John, I love them all too. That notice about the speed was on the daggerrecord.com pages themselves, a little pop up box used to popup saying there was a problem with the very initial batch of discs pressed, that has been corrected.
  13. The music on that set is wonderful in my opinion. The different pianists and other accompanists give different flavors to the Donaldson stew that really makes for nice listening. I have almost all this set on individual Japanese and American cds that I like to listen to better than the set (I like the sound on the separate discs better) on my main stereo, but I sometimes bring the set into work and groove groove groove to the sounds coming out of the computer.
  14. Aye Yaye yaye! I was thinking I needed to get Vol. 6! Now there are 7 and 8? Darn this place!
  15. Hmmmmm. . . looks as if you're right, I can see no evidence on the web that DIW reissued the Stitt material. Go Dragon then.
  16. Hmmm. . . I remember all the discs available from DIW. But I'm at the age where my memory is beginning to be suspect . . . . Shouldn't be hard to find Dmitry. I would pursue the cduniverse route with a call or email.
  17. IMO as well. This box set also came out later on DIW. . . never saw or heard that version. Dragon Records can indeed be a deadly fiscal direction to pursue. Reminds me I still need to grab one of the Gullins.
  18. Many more happy ones!
  19. Not me. I like the Gales much more. Different strokes for different folks. . . one record label!
  20. Lancaster's Vortex is really beautiful. . . it may be a bit on the side of the scale that the Gales are for your tastes then BUT no annoying vocals (if you find those vocals annoying). I love the Gales. I love the Lancaster too. Though it may be not operating properly, you can find Water releases on this site: www.buyrunt.com
  21. DEFINITELY. Those Gales are favorites of mine! The first of the Blue Notes to get the Water treatment I believe, and fine jobs!
  22. Goldberg, Not Blue Note, but don't let the Byard Lancaster and the Leo Wright (both Vortex lps reissued on Water) slip past you!
  23. Another fine Waters Records release! I like the title track on this one a lot. And I like the whole package. . .notes, sound, performances. Yeah, this is typical Earland so I think you'll find him doing that thang. . . I haven't noticed it, but it's not something that I notice him doing, it doesn't annoy me.
  24. I've seen a number of Sun Ra Japanese reissues (one, on MPS, is one of the best sounding cds I have!) although we could hope for more. Admittedly, yes, it's labels that Japan likes to mine like Savoy and MPS that get the treatment, though there are some later live ones on other labels that have been reissued (though I have passed on them; I'm not that hot on Ra after the seventies). I'm glad you like these Young dates. I've tried. . . I listen every now and then to the lp burns I have. . . but I just don't quite really enjoy these.
