  1. I looked out the window and was releived to see no new snow. I didn’t want to have to shovel more soon. For some reason I wanted to hear vibes this monring and so I pulled this record from the shelf. “Terry Gibgs” Mercury mono LP. Terry Pollard really delivers.
  2. "Foundation" Season 3
  3. “The Golden Horn of Billy Franklin” Grand Prix Series mono LP It’s not Billy Franklin. It’s Don Goldie. Very much in the mould of the Teagarden group he was then a part of. Really nice sound as well.
  4. Duke Ellington – “Duke 56/62” Vol. 1 2 LP CBS France, LP 2 This is great music. Sounding so good this morning.
  5. About two inches of snow overnight. Did my little bit of shoveling for now; snow is starting up again. Starting off with Bill Evans Trio “On a Friday Evening” Craft cd Two great things about this release: Plangent Process applied, and mastering by Paul Blackmore. Nicely engineered performances.
  6. Rest in Peace Bob. We will not speak but stand inside the rain.
  7. Sad news about Bob Weir. Right now Yes, “Magnification”
  8. Duke Ellington "Duke: '56/'62 Volume 1, LP 1 Finally have all three volumes (five LPs) of this excellent French CBS series.
  9. “California Concert–The Hollywood Album” CTI 2 cd set, disc 2
  10. Grateful Dead June 8, 1977 second disc of three 612×414 35.7 KB from this box set 500×375 87.3 KB Followed by Joe Chambers “New World” Porter cd Bass – Herb Bushler Congas – Ray Mantilla Electric Piano – Eddie Martinez Guitar – Paul Metzke Percussion – Omar Clay Soprano Saxophone – Dick Meza Tenor Saxophone – Dick Meza Drums, Marimba, Vibraphone – Joe Chambers
  11. Marcus Printup “Song For The Beautiful Woman” Blue Note cd Quite a band here!
  12. After finishing up watching “Pluribus” I’m starting off a cool morning with the total output of a Brooklyn band,Oreste And His Queensland Orchestra, recoded 1926 to 1929. “Edison Hot Dance Obscuritites Volume 2” Jazz Oracle cd.
  13. This one starts off with "If I were a Bell" but not distorted.
  14. The system is all warmed up and I’m treating it to a Monday Michiru that is among my favorite listens of the darkest time of this century–“Optimista” . . . talk about a percussive wall of sound. I love this photo–I love any woman who can laugh this way. 300×299 7.48 KB
  15. Have the house to myself, so I am listening to something loud that I have wanted to turn up ever since it was released last year. Jimi Hendrix “Axis Bold as Love” mono mix from “Bold as Love,” the box set. 400×400 48.4 KB
  16. Yes “Tales from Topographic Oceans” Steve Wilson remix box set, disc 1, Atlantic cd
  17. Chilly rain. . . this will demolish what remains of the recent 13" plus of snow we had. Warm for January this morning, with a cooler front moving in this afternoon. I decided to start the day with a Miles Davis bootleg–Miles Davis “Howlin’–Kyoto, July 15, 1964” EGHO cd. Not perfect sound, but decent, and Sam Rivers on tenor for one of his few recorded gigs with the Quintet. Interestingly this concert was recorded outside in the rain. . . so the slightly intrusive sound of the rain here, now, is appropriate.
  18. “Ernie Wilkins Kenny Clarke Septet” Savoy/Denon cd Recorded the year I was born. . . an early RVG recording. . . and swinging in that Marshall/Clarke way that made many Savoys so great. And Eddie Bert on trombone–a plus! Alto Saxophone, Tenor Saxophone – Ernie Wilkins Baritone Saxophone – Cecil Payne Bass – Wendell Marshall Drums – Kenny Clarke Engineer – Rudy Van Gelder Piano – Hank Jones Tenor Saxophone, Baritone Saxophone – George Barrow Trombone – Eddie Bert
  19. Dave Holland Big Band "What Goes Around" ECM cd My kind of ECM album.
  20. 15 IPS is the recording and playback speed for the recording. IEC is a type of equalization. I think there is a market for these tapes. One suggestion may be to query HDTT website, they transfer tapes into high resolution digital and may be interested in purchasing these: https://www.highdeftapetransfers.ca/pages/contact-us https://www.highdeftapetransfers.ca/pages/about-us
  21. Now playing “Stan Getz & Astrud Gilberto–Live at the Berlin Jazz Fesitval 1966” The Lost Recordings 2 cd set, disc 1 This edition of the Getz group with Gary Burton swings hard!
  22. Unfortunately other than doing a bit of isolation component shifting I didn’t get to spend time with the system yesterday. I missed it! I hope to get a little time in today. Everything changes when I don’t listen to enough music. Starting off a cold morning with “Hal Wilner Presents Weird Nightmare–Meditations on Mingus.” This recording has fascinated me for decades with its use of instruments developed by Hary Partch. A very interesting release–and I love the Mingus music at its core.
  23. Daniel I too am very worried about the state of the world and it influences how I view bulletin boards. I pay more attention to one thread on another forum, and that community means a lot to me, helps me to cope with the worry and frankly anger I feel. I worry so much for my young neices and nephews (including -in law) and what their future will be like--I totially understand the importance you place on raising your kids and your worry about their reality ahead. I've always enjoyed your posting.
