I knew who Jussie was when the news first broke, and was even more familiar with the work of his lovely sister. Such a bizarre situation, but I do believe he was guilty of this ridiculous "caper." My feelings about the sentence fall between "totally appropriate" and "it's a travesty"--I chose the former because my feelings are closer to that extreme.

Starting off with some sunlight today which is a nice change and I decided that I'd play this one, which I haven't spun in a while. Nicely-recorded, this is one of my favorites from this lovely lady. Monday Michiru "Optimista"

I love the cds, but have a sentimental attachment to the LPs as they were among the first non-electric Miles recordings I picked up.

He's doing an amazing job and Carmen is really "on." Right now Mezz Mezzrow "1936-1939" Chronogical Classics cd Some great music on Bluebird and Decca, much featuring the amazing Tommy Ladnier.

Another great singer and another great release. What a storyteller she was! Carmen McRae (with the Ramsey Lewis Trio) "After Glow" Decca, Japanese cd

I'm learning to keep this one near my transport because it is one of those rare convergences of recorded sound, musical material, and musicians where everything is so marvelous. I would take this one to a deserted island, definitely. Betty Carter "I'm Yours, You're Mine" Verve cd

No, that's not what I mean. Sheesh.

I agree--this was a surprisingly good Mosaic for me.

Which makes this very Grateful Dead-y.

Bossarenova Trio "Atlantico" This trio built around the supple sweet voice of Paula Morelenbaum has a few great albums out. Very modern, beautiful recordings.

Jacques Morelenbaum Paula Morelenbaum Jonathon Katzenelenbogan (classmate of mine in M'Babane)

As one who helped with material in a tree for 1960 and knew a principal member yes, it could be seen as Grateful Dead-y by some.
-
I think so yes. Sound is decent, performances are great.

No it's from Rome, October 27, 1969

I'm a Jackie and Roy fan as well, they can be a nice chill pill when needed and they also have done some innovative work that makes me sit forward on my seat at times.

Reading a thread elsewhere about the Plangent Process made me want to re-listen to the fiftieth anniversary release of this Grateful Dead classic, the first disc. The Plangent Process is used in preparing this one and man oh man it sounds great.

I corresponded with him a bit this decade and the end of the last. He was a great guy and will be missed.

I wouldn't want to be without Miles in Europe, My Funny Valentine, 'Four' & More, In Concert or Live/Evil.

Herminia "Do Sol" Celluloid cd Wow. Re-visiting this one. This Cape Verdean singer/songwriter was awesome.

Pee Wee Russell is one of my favorite jazz musicians. Louis Prima described him as one of the most brilliant musical minds he ever worked with. I buy anything he appears on. Right now I've been thinking of this one lately, an old favorite. Grace's piano playing and singing are really something here. Paul Kantner "Blows Against the Empire"
