  2. Great stuff. Alternates are on this one. . . and more. I love Muggsy, I haven't heard a bad disc of his.

  6. R, I really like them all, but the Mel Powell and the Jimmy Rushing and the Vic Dickersons are standouts to me.
  7. "The Essential Vic Dickenson" Vanguard cd Lots of cool cats on this one, not at all stuffy. I love the Vanguard jazz material. There are a few more LPs that they should put out on cd.
  8. This thread makes me realize how much I treasure the Vanguard "Jazz Showcase" material. Wow. Awesome music, great recordings.
  9. There are so many of us that wish that the live in Japan '73 and '75 material would be given this deluxe treatment. . .that I somehow think the universe will make it happen. Whether I'm around is a separate question. . . .
  10. I agree with John--the Carn releases are the real gems for me though there are only one or two that I don't like. I am so glad the most recent reissue program was complete, they sound good and were a great set of reissues.
  11. Duke Ellington, "Berlin 1959" disc 1
  12. Pulled out my 2 cd set and am listening to disc 1. I like this set. Kenny, NHOP and Alex always deliver. Jackie and Dexter seem to be enjoying themselves.
  13. Louis Prima "1945" Chronogical Classics cd Needed a little boogie boost this morning.
  14. Joe Temperley "Double Duke" Naxos CD Niiiiiice!

Good news! I have a Muse LP but will buy this cd.
  16. Yeah. . . this series has essentially become gray-market bootlegs so to speak, and I haven't been crazy about the sound of many of those I have. But it's nice to see some of this stuff coming out and available.
  17. Bob Dylan "Triplicate" disc 3
  18. Ella Fitzgerald and Joe Williams with the Count Basie Orchestra "One O'Clock Jump" Verve cd
  19. I wouldn't stop exploring just with the band with Hutch. Each edition has its strengths, and I feared the "tribute" mentality of the focus on composers, but, though I really dig the "original compositions" discs, each one of the discs with the works of of others has merit.
  20. Joyce Moreno (aka just "Joyce") "Cool" Far Out cd
  21. I believe I have SFJazz Collective's complete output. I enjoy them all.
  22. Barney Wilen "La Note Bleue" cd 1
  23. I decided to listen to both LPs. Great stuff! Then "Ray Charles & Betty Carter" Dunhill cd
  24. "The Individualism of Pee Wee Russell" Savoy Jazz 2 LP set, disc 1
  25. Benny Goodman "1944-1945" Chronogical Classic cd. Mostly V-Discs with some tracks featuring an all star cast, and trio and sextet recordings. Some great stuff.
