    McCoy Tyner

I really like Lovano as well. And he's one of the nicest musicians I have ever met. But I don't like those gongs on his recent record. . . ugh.
  2. Herbie Mann "Flautista" Verve "By Request" cd
  3. Dave Douglas "Live Jazz Standard" disc 7 (Sunday, first set)
  4. "A Man Called Adam" Soundtrack cd I like this melodramatic jazz movie. And the soundtrack is excellent--and nice stereo sound as well. Vocals: Sammy Davis Jr., Louis Armstrong (trumpet also), Mel Torme Clarinet – Buster Bailey Composed By, Conductor – Benny Carter Piano - Billy Kyle Drums – Danny Barcelona, Jo Jones Trombone – Kai Winding, Tyree Glenn Trumpet, Soloist – Bill Berry, Nat Adderley (And others)
  5. Gonzalo Rubalcaba "Antiguo" Blue Note cd From what I think of as his "Zawinul" period. Still dig it. Followed by disc 2 of Lee Morgan "Complete Live at the Lighthouse" Blue Note Japan SHM-CD edition.
  6. Re-spinning this one, Doug Carn "Infant Eyes." This is one of the nicest recordings in the Black Jazz label if you ask me, just nicely engineered to an enveloping sound field. And great playing, and singing by Mrs. Carn. "Always keep room in your heart for love." Real Gone Music managed to reissue all the catalog! A wonderful thing!
  7. Me too. Really fun if you play it at 45 rpm.
  8. Duke Ellington and his Orchestra with Fred Astaire "David Danced Before the Lord" Flying Dutchman Records
  9. Orquestra Tabajara De Severino Araújo "Tabajara Plays Jobim" A really dynamic, fun disc.
  10. As time goes by I appreciate Nelson's arrangements less and less to be honest. As you say, there were better choices.
  11. Kresten Osgood "Hammond Rens" cd 1 Nice music to watch the sparse snowfall. Dr. Lonnie Smith is taking no prisoners.
  12. Her longtime agent Jeff Witjas confirmed to ABC Newsthat she died of natural causes. “She died in her sleep, in her own bed. It’s as simple as that,” Witjas told ABC News.
  13. That Parker 10 disc set is excellent. Some really interesting music and some vocal pyrotechnics.
  14. Alice Coltrane "Kirtan: Turaya Sings" LP 2. This was on sale for 12 dollars on amazon so I picked it up; I have the Japanese cd version, which sounds brighter by a bit.
  15. Freddie Hubbard "The Hub of Hubbard" MPS cd from 2009
  16. Yeah, it's a lot.
  17. Good score! That's the old school Mosaic way.
  18. Good. I'll look forward to that as well.
  19. Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers "First Flight to Tokyo" cd 2
  20. Jovino Santos Neto Quintet "Por Causa da Voce" cd This is a wonderful disc. The music of Jobim! A Bossa effort, a jazz session, with great players and the lovely voice of Maucha Adnet, whose work I collect.
  21. A really great cast actually top to bottom. I'm looking forward to Season 3.
  22. I have about four times your problem, and luckily retired so a few more hours a day.
  23. What I do appreciate about this release though is that it is atypical, opening with that drum solo was not common, they departed a bit from their usual repertoire.
