  1. I got the Mobley set in this afternoon. I won't have time for a while to really listen but I compared "There's a Lull in my Life" (a tune I really like from the Ellington versions) between this new set and the most recent Japanese cd release (which.I preferred to the earlier US cd). The sound between the two were very close, which is a good thing! Really nice mastering. I think I may be getting another copy of this box set though. I was unsure that I had pre-ordered a set and with the frustrating week plus long difficulty of spelling that out with Mosaic this month fresh in my mind I ordered another one a week ago. This one I received seems to be from an earlier order. Sigh. Well, it won't go to waste.
  2. That looks more like WHITE hair to me. Believe me I know. . . my gray is starting to turn white.
  3. WHOA! I just found out about this this week and spun it today. Where has this been. . . no one ever told me about this this. . . it's as good as one would expect! Marcus Roberts "Trio Crescent: Celebrating Coltrane"
  4. Art Hodes "Out of the Back Room" Blue Note Japan cd. I love Art Hodes. Had to get up early as I need to drive out to my Dad's to take him to an early appointment and then brunch. Listening on my ZMF Obi headphones. I
  5. On to Hank Mobley "Slice of the Top" Blue Note Japan cd. I especially dig that they cover "There's a Lull in my Life" which I always enjoy hearing Ivie Anderson sing with the Duke Ellington Orchestra, recorded decades earlier. Nice arrangement by Duke Pearson.
  6. Now on to Hank Mobley "Thinking of Home" on Blue Note Japan cd. I really like the compositions on this one. There were as many great Mobley albums held back from release during this time period as were released.
  7. Getting ready for the upcoming Mosaic set collecting Mobley sessions from '63 to '69 (my set has been "dispatched"). Hank Mobley "Far Away Lands" Blue Note Japan SHM-CD
  8. UDiscover let me know my set has been "dispatched." Looking forward to it (probably next year).
  9. Tia Fuller "Angelic Warrior"
  10. That's likely not the Real Gone that GA is referring to. The Real Gone Music that issued the Woodstock JA is a bona fide reissue label, legit. https://shop.realgonemusic.com/collections/all The other Real Gone GA mentions is a grey market budget label. We've been through this before on the forum, it's confusing as they both use the same label name.
  11. Listening to "DuDuku Da Fonseca Trio Play Don Salvador" again. It's quite a nice album.
  12. Grateful Dead "Ready or Not". . . .This is a compilation of live tracks of songs that the last incarnation of the Dead with Garcia had never recorded in the studio. This is nowhere near the era of Dead I like and this cd hasn't changed my mind, but I had to check it out. . . .
  13. I also got a shipping notice. They are busy!
  14. I haven't listened too closely yet, was doing housework. It's good. The drums may be a bit too prominent in the mixes.
  15. "Duduka Da Fonseca Trio Plays Dom Salvador" Followed by something very different. disc 1 of "Complete Woody Herman Decca, Mars, MGM Sessions (1943-54)"
  16. You don't have to explain it to me. I admire your will power and plan. I too have serious space issues, and I don't care that much about cover art etc. so I may part with the Japanese cd copies I have if I really do like the mastering of this Mosaic set. I've begun downsizing and in fact have sold over 500 discs so far this year, a drop in the bucket, but a start. I'll have to see what the Morgan set brings. . . . I actually like the Morgan material a bit less than the Mobley so it's possible I may skip that set. . . . Ah, probably not seeing how I am, again I'll have other discs to sell if I prefer the mastering.
  17. Yeah, I have them all too. I had the American copies, now I have Japanese copies where available. And I ordered this set. Great music.
  18. Just to play devil's advocate, do you "literally" have the one previously unissued track in this set, the alternate take of "Me 'n You"?
  19. MANY HAPPY RETURNS!
  20. True in both holiday colors.
  21. Their shipping department isn't even THEIR shipping department.
  22. I've had "Big Fun" since the 2 LP was first released. "Go Ahead John" has never irritated me, it still delivers excitement in listening for me.
  23. June Tyson, with Sun Ra "Saturnian Queen of the Sun Ra Arkestra" cd Listening on newly acquired slightly used ZMF "Ori" headphones with cherry end caps.
  24. https://www.discogs.com/Oscar-Peterson-The-Complete-ClefMercury-Studio-Recordings-Of-The-Oscar-Peterson-Trio-1951-1953/release/2952855 From an amazon review: The recordings are presented in sequential order by recording date rather than in the order of release date. One of Norman Granz's peculiarities was that he would record marathon sessions and then mix-and-match tracks to put together albums. Most of the recordings presented in this box were initially released on 10 inch LPs, but when they were repackaged into 12 inch LPs. CD releases of some (but not all) of this material has mirrored the 12 inch LPs. The material in this box can be found spread across the following LP / CD releases: "Romance", "An Evening with", "Nostalgic Memories", "Recital", "An Oscar for Peterson", and the Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, George Gershwin, Duke Ellington, Jerome Kern, Richard Rogers, and Vincent Youmans entries in the "Oscar Peterson Plays ..." series.
  25. Yes, but at least so far a number of people don't have that set, while a number of people have had the Herman set that I prepaid for for weeks. . . . . Anyway, I think I prepaid for the Mobley as well. Another possible problematic wait.
