  1. That looks cool! Right now Sam Brown!
  2. The sub-platter made the most difference, I got the Reference. Consider it. . . just sayin'! I'm very happy with these excellent Groovetracer products. Right now
  3. Installed the Groovetracer counterweight and record weight to my RP3 today and am enjoying an improved sound that is fascinating. (I have my RP3 about as tricked out as it can be with TTPSU, Exact2, white belt, Groovetracer sub-platter and Delrin platter and now these two new parts). Decided to buy the Music on Vinyl reissue of this and the sound is awesome.
  4. Was mentioned as being in the works about four years ago, but not a peep since.
  5. So it's from Poll Winners, a Public Domain label from Europe. Not a Japanese cd after all.
  6. This afternoon LPs:
  7. Vikings Season 3 on Blu-ray
  8. I hadn't followed any news of him and I also am taken aback. I guess I consider him an innovator and I have a lot of his work if not nearly all the official albums. The work he did with Ronson just floors me--I don't care for the costumes etc. but the music reached me then and still does. R>I>P Mr. Jones.
  9. Yes, that's the series. My Irish heritage fiancee (Lucinda Elwin Dwyer) will watch anything set in Ireland it seems, and she has been enjoying this so far. This is the first season, just started on one of the PBS networks.
  10. Shetland, episode 1
  11. I've had both for several months now (via CDJapan). Nice!
  12. There is a Blu-Spec 2 CD from Japan that I don't think is too unreasonably priced if purchased with other discs from Japan to defray postage. I confess I'm learning to like the other material more but Native Dancer IS the jewel in the crown.

    Mingus

That would be the Roy Brooks feature playing the saw, often done when Brooks was in the band, I have this on a few European boots of shows. Not essential Mingus. . .fun though.
  14. Yes, same mastering, perhaps tweaked a bit. I have the Mobile Fidelity CD of that title, but what I most listen to is the vinyl. Whoo boy.
  15. Agreed, it's a good sounding transfer, and the version in the box set sounds quite good. I had wanted a new remaster but listening to the disc in the set I don't hanker for one any longer. Also nice about the box is that material from Mysterioso and the Straight No Chaser soundtrack disc are added to one of the Newport discs.
  16. Amen. Man, I feel sorry for all those women, over all that time. Whatever happens with Bill. . . what does it do for them . . . .
  17. They are NOT a Mosaic product. They don't show up on the Mosaic site, but the True Blue.
  18. We've talked about these on the bargain boxes thread. I have all three of the new ones. The Ellington and Monk are not as fulfilling in new remasterings as I'd like but nice. The Blakey has the most new for the buck for most of us probably.
  19. The Love Supreme 3 cd version is yet again different.
  20. I'm on my third spin through this 6 cd box set and find it fascinating. I am sure the large set is even more fascinating, and owners of that also received MP3s of '65 live shows, something that probably would have set me over the edge to buying the big set if I had known that was part of the plan. This is actually taking me back three decades to when I was drumming in a few bands and rehearsing in my then garage apartment, learning material and arrangements and having some real intense times. No, the music was not "cutting edge" as this material is, but there was a comparable spirit and this set reinvokes some of that within me. Anyway, I'm so glad to have this version and can only imagine the fun that some owners of the big set are having!
  21. "The Leftovers" Season 2
  22. Didn't notice a significant difference in the lp cover sleeves . . . .
  23. I can dig that. I have had the same journey through different versions. This is probably the final "physical product" we'll get of the Gould material this decade or longer, and they did it right. . . . I caved and got it and am glad I did. I no longer expect any respect or consideration or even common sense from any but the smallest of labels. (Guess I'm just old and cynical now, but I have fewer disappointments).
  24. Okay, I'm corrected. I had ordered it when they had it on special and the package was lost, and they refunded because they told me they had none in stock. That changed I guess. I bought it again elsewhere. I didn't do much in the way of comparing the two, just spun discs from the new set, and they sound excellent, and gave the old set to my best friend for Xmas. . . . The book is amazing and the sound of all I have heard is excellent.
