Finished Magic City Season 2 (alright) and the final season of Damages (WHOA!)

Blue Train has never been a favorite of mine either. Listened to Dakar earlier today, I really like that session and I like the RVG. Blue Train was the favorite of Mr. Coltrane according to the interview included on the Dragon Miles set. That's fine with me. I've heard it enough though myself.

But. . . the numbers aren't sequential . . . though I guess you're right meaning this is timing out rather than selling out.

Everyone is making a compelling argument here for the material. I like JIm's point about the tunes. Quite on target. And the originals by Waldron et al are good too. I really like the Davis material, of course. I like the stuff with Garland, and almost anywhere where Chambers is on board, I like John and Paul together, there's something about it.

I think both the Deluxe cd verison and the LP version of Another Self-Portrait are very nicely produced and executed. I don't have the two cd set, I'm sure it's great as well. Looking forward to the NEXT volume.

Newer releases of the title are complete on two discs. Those they removed. .. they are probably the most removable (I think it's "Don's Solo"). I really never warmed to this release in it's lp format on release, and I have the early one cd release and probably haven't listened to it in 15 years or more.

Very few. The Waldron has both mono and stereo. There are a few others but for the most part these are straight lp or 10" reissues.

I may have beat you to them Larry, sorry. . . . I spent too much but I got all the ones I wanted.

I ordered a bunch of these from Dusty Groove, they emailed me that they had arrived on Friday.

Reading over at the Hoffman forum, there are a few who have talked about moving on furthr in Blue Note after the SACD, XRCD and LP releases.

I have always enjoyed selecting, finding and giving gifts to family and friends. I'm pretty good at it, and our family has fun exchanging. I've been giving really big gifts to my parents the last few years. . . things they need. Feels good to be able to do so.

Paul, I think that there are a number of audiophiles who have been discovering this great music through these series so. . . well that's good isn't it, people discovering the music? And it makes sense from the company's standpoint to market well known titles, so that an audiophile starting out to explore jazz now has lots to read about each release and can feel it's not so risky to purchase this or that title. I don't buy 45rpm releases but I bet these sound stellar.

I miss Chuck. Though it seems coming up is a show that seems like it's inspired by or a copy of Chuck: "Intelligence" starring Josh Holloway (Sawyer in LOST). Trying to be a serious version of the man with intelligence database stuck inside his head story structure.

Are you done with your Christmas shopping? I'm done. . . I just have to get my Mom a birthday present yet, her birthday is on the 23rd, My lover's is on the 26th, but I have hers already. Everything needed to be mailed is in the mail. It feels good to be done! To be honest, I get a headstart by buying presents all year long. I would say 75 percent of my shopping was online. Anyone else done? Any huge Christmas shopping procrastinators here?

Yes, I got the Blu-ray of that in a bit ago and need to rewatch it soon. But have a few ahead ot it: Magic City's latest season, Damages latest season.
