  1. It is the truth. Too bad, as I love Kreuk's voice!
  2. Started watching "Magic City" on Blu-ray. Not bad. Lots of beauty. Speaking of which I'm watching the premier of "Beauty and the Beast" on CW just because Kristen Kreuk is the star. Lovely woman. Not a great show.
  3. Very little. 4.8 GB on an iTunes. Not much into music via computer at all. Don't do portable music any more.
  4. You seemed (to me) to be damning those who listen in extended sessions as if this were the only way to remember and they were trying to memorize. That's how I read your "discourse." Anyway, I personally don't think there's any specific value difference between short or long listening sessions.
  5. Okay, I don't see what memory has to do with it. Rant on, I'm obviously not quite getting what you're so jazzed about. Cool.
  6. He's giving the Armstrong name a bad reputation!
  7. I think you're making a lot of assumptions, and that's your right. I haven't heard many of these complaints you seem to have, and I don't have a dog in the fight, just seems this assumption of yours has little documentation to me. One point that occurred to me: nothing wrong with listening in little bits, but is that the best way to listen to a Symphony or extended work?
  8. I had this set. Sound is very good. The Mosaic sound is better (as is the sound on the Smithsonian lps of this material) but for the price this is a great way to get excellent music.
  9. I do all kinds of listening, though the last four years I've not had a job and have had a lot more time to listen and tend to listen for extended periods. Nor do I have a car, and don't listen to tunes on my motorcycle, and don't carry an iPod with me walking, etc. I just don't quite see where you leapt to this derogatory sentence phrase: "these people seem often not open to new music which demands an ability to assimilate musical processes, not the same thing as 'attention span."
  10. Conversely I'm really enjoying my Gould, Horowitz, Heifetz, Rubinstein, Toscanini and Bernstein boxes from Sony. I keep dipping into them and enjoying the music and the sound and there are many compositions I've never heard before within. I consider these real treasure chests, and the prices I paid were hard to believe.
  11. I now have the deluxe edition of "Get All You Deserve." The Blu-ray is excellent, and the cds sound very good.
  12. Many happy happy returns!
  13. I agree, especially as I've paid about 20 a piece total for most of the discs in these sets that I bought years ago, and the new remasterings are an improvement.
  14. If you don't have any other Parker on Verve and enjoy Strings, yes.
  15. Thanks for that Cliff. I ordered all the new sets to save on shipping; I would be getting all of them anyway, I really have enjoyed these sets. 16. The new sets are now shipping.
  17. As a fledgling classical collector, I like the big boxes. Such great deals financially (I got the same deal as Chuck) and such a wealth of material to explore. I've found very few duds in the four biggest boxes I've bought. Years later I may be able to re-evaluate some of the performances by comparing different interpretations, but I'm far from that and may not be the direction I go.
  18. Very sad news.
  19. Insidiously good indeed. I heard a few songs from that record and had to have it years ago. Amazing.
  20. The Keystone set has made me realize yet again how underrated a bassist John Kahn is.
  21. Agreed, but....................... But nothing. The sound is inferior to what we could get. The art is ugly. I steer clear.
  22. Many many happy returns!
  23. Have a wonderful birthday Allen, and MANY more happy returns!
