    New Miles?

Right, but they're likely NOT legitimate in the USA. Kindof sucks. They're becoming more available though. So perhaps the estate has begun to feel differently, or simply won't spend the money to intimidate vendors etc. Of course my perception of the legal aspects may be totally wrong. . . I'd appreciate correction.

    New Miles?

We are not under the rule of moral law. Which may be a good thing! I'm not arguing with you, and I may even agree with you. NO, not quite. I think the heirs should have some control. The Miles Davis estate made very strong moves against these sort of things in the nineties and I'm actually surprised that over the last few years we've seen these sort of things become distributed in the US again.

    New Miles?

This is of course a bootleg, not sanctioned by the Miles Davis estate. The material has been circulating among collectors for many years. Half a decade ago it was circulated as part of a 12 cd tree of recordings of this tour. These are great shows in decent sound.
  4. Hey Brad I think you'll really enjoy the Bird box because I know what Bird means to your musical world. I really haven't spent the time I need to with the box yet but the music is well mastered and there are interesting interview segments. You probably have quite a bit of the material, but at the sales price it's definitely worth it. I like the Bille box as well.
  5. This is indeed a great album and Water does a wonderful job on their Blue Note reissues, that's the way to do it!
  6. So far this year: Porcupine Tree and Opeth. Easing into their catalogs thanks to Shawn's introduction.
  7. I guess my main concern is "scholarship or crackpot rant"; sounds like it falls into the scholarship camp. I'll definitely have to check it out. Well, the author is not a typical Egyptologist. I don't consider him a "crackpot." He does have an agenda, but most authors and most scholars do. He's not a non-scholar so to speak, he's a civil engineer, and he's studied Egyptology as far as I can tell a lot of his life. He is interviewed briefly here on this page. http://www.egypt-tehuti.org/gadalla.html From the interview: M.G.: I didn't intend to focus on Ancient Egypt, just because I'm Egyptian. It was only after I began reading existing books about the subject, that I discovered how MUCH they knew, and how AWARE they were of the universe, in every action of their daily lives. Yet this information is suppressed in almost all of today's references and textbooks. I have made it my life's mission to get the TRUE image of the ancient Egyptians out to the world, for those who are ready to hear it
  8. Well, me too of course.
  9. Welcome to the forum RR! I know RivieraRanch well from the Decware forum (I'm Lon there).
  10. It is interesting so far. The author's premise is that the nature and character of Ancient Egypt and ancient Egyptians is not best served by Western interpretations; as an Egyptian he feels he brings a different insight into the facts and suppositions. So far I know from the preface that he subscribes to the very interesting theory of Osman re: an Egyptian dynasty and the Jewish kings and leaders Mosses, David and Solomon. And that he believes that a certain huge block of limestone in the form of a lion with a man's head may be much older than 4500 years. Of what I've read before he seems to be presenting a view of ancient Egyptian character and religion that is consistent with some of the western versions, the more open minded ones. He, as some more modern Western scholars, sees the multiple "gods" as "angels" and all aspects of the one true god Re (Ra). He is going to make claims that Egyptian religion is the fountainhead and bedrock of Judeo-Christian-Islamic religious thought and expression, a claim that I will have little animosity towards.
  11. I'll admit, the Mad Men aren't serial killers. They're pretty scummy though. I think I'll probably not watch this next season. I thought Season 3 was not as good as its predecessors. Now watching Arriving Somewhere
  12. Guy I don't think so. They've been on sale there nearly 2 years, when Storyville changed US distributorship. In that time we've seen two new volumes released.
  13. I think they did start at the beginning on NBC. I know there's good stuff there, and quality writing and production and acting, but I'm just not interested in watching series about certain things like mafiosi, serial killers, etc. Creepy, life's too short, slightly glorifying evil, etc. I don't mind skipping these.
  14. Happy Birthday Hans, hope it's a wonderful day and many more birthdays to come!
  15. Many happy happy returns!
  16. EEEW. Dexter. A series about a serial killer. I watched some episodes (broadcast on NBC) but didn't feel compelled to watch more. Watched "Michael Buble Caught in the Act" on DVD, with my girlfriend (her DVD). Was a lot of fun, all the fun entirely tied to watching it with her.
  17. "Buster Voodoo" from Rodrigo y Gabriela's "11:11"
  18. Have a great great one Sandy!
  19. Lots of items back in stock now, Hutcherson, Tyner, Mulligan, Benedetti, etc.
  20. The Jazz Door is exactly the same as the Sony, this is in fact old news. My personal guess is that they didn't want to come up against a lawsuit from Sony so invented the Montreux appearance. But it would have made more sense not to put out the cd, so I don't know. But nothing new on that disc that isn't on the Sony, bit for bit.
  21. This time, Magic Earl Honeywell.
