  1. Think how much fun you could have with a guitar named "Lola"!
  2. Flurin: Get these two:
  3. Very sad news. I wish Tony the best.
  4. I really don't get the sense that Monk had autism or Asperger's syndrome. To me his behavior seems to fall in line with what I know of bipolar disorders, especially perhaps "mixed states." Regardless, he had his way of dealing with the world. . . and succeeded in time despite the inflexibility that could plague him. And because he resisted certain practices and behavior on the part of others, he was able to do so often on his terms, and there's real value in that. I'm up to the second stay at the Blackhawk. This is a great book.
  5. I'm only listening to this now as it just came out and arrived. I listened to it once just to hear it. I listened to it two more times because I ENJOY it. I guess it's easy to make fun of it, but I think it's quite a nice "record."
  6. Well, Chewy didn't say the same about the Armstrong set. . .
  7. RVG, Keepnews, K2. . .these don't bother me at all. I think the sound on these releases are excellent and better than what came before. I don't really feel that the name of the series puts these persons as more important than the creators. They signal that the sonics are considered important. I can live with that. Packaging, even album art, aren't ultimately that important to me. The music and the sound are important to me. The Legends of Jazz series was a very nice one! I enjoy many of those releases.
  8. MANY MANY Happy returns!
  9. Don't think Jerry Bruno is a woman. I don't have the book. Could it be Carol Kay?
  10. Well, this image (without the writing) is used as the back cover of the cd booklet. What is the left and right one saying here?
  11. Nope. The deal is an Anita O'Day deal.
  12. Well, I think several of you are not giving this a chance. I like it. His voice is as it's been for years and he makes the most of it. The arrangements are very 'fifties in a lot of ways and very well-executed. I don't listen to things by short snippets and make judgments, I didn't listen to any samples, I just ordered it and I'm glad I did. I usually hate Xmas albums but this one is fun.
  13. It's not their best work, but it's worth the downloads. I've had lp and cd versions.
  14. I don't own one. And I'm just selling duplicates here.
  15. There already is one. More than one. Don't be a hater.
  16. There was never an DeFranco/Clark Mosaic on my list.
  17. This album is great fun. If you like recent Dylan, and have any idea you'd like this, you'll like this. Personnel includes Phil Upchurch and Dave Hidalgo.
  18. I haven't had a problem with disc 6 that I'm aware of (I wasn't paying the closest of attention all the time that is was on). The sound quality is superb!! It's packaged like the last one, in a small "cigar box." And comes with a button, green with the "Grateful Dead Movie" skeleton.
  19. Even if you're very wrong!
  20. And Armstrong worshipped Crosby.
  21. It's too true.
  22. They're going to say K2 somewhere on the back in the credit sections. The Japanese versions will always say K2 on the obi. I find that some of the regular OJC versions with recent remastering (especially by RVG or Kirk Felton) will best them to my ears on my system, but that's all a personal, subjective thing). They'll not disappoint I wager. K2 is a JVC process, and not just OJC licensed titles or applied the process. Impulse, and other labels also had the K2 process applied to Japanese releases. (I have some great Coltrane K2 reissues).
