I've met Joe too. Sure seemed like a great guy.
  2. Hope you have one helluva day! and many happy returns!
  3. Many many happy happy returns!
  4. The Hubbard didn't really come out a half a year ago. It seemed it was supposed to come out in June but very few copies were around then as far as I could tell, it was backordered for a few months or so from most sources.

Yeah, Dylan with the Band, in any form, I love to listen to. Planet Waves hit me hard when it was released and it still means a lot to me. What lyrics, and what singing! I hate "Joey." But then I hate gangster/mafia movies, books, songs. "Joey" just gives me the creeps. I skip over it whenever possible.
  6. Good news Allen. Keep getting all the rest that you can. I hated that aspect of it, I hate lying in bed just resting with a passion, but it's the only thing that gets the job done.
  7. The good people at Lonehill released this double CD set which includes material which was never issued previously. How did Lonehill come across unissued material? From reading the threads on the board, I thought they just did redo's of stuff from previous commercial sources? I don't know, but that's a great two cd set. Yes, excellent! But in my opinion, it would have been better (less pirate-like) if they'd omitted some of the "bonus tracks" on disc two (mainly the Fantasy session that's part of the excellent "Theme and Variations" twofer CD, which contains a fine unreleased date that you'll miss if you stick to the Lonehill). Omit something? Hel no! Well, no one should just stick to the Lonehill and not buy the OJC.
  8. Many many more happy returns! And may your New Old Stock tubes glow forever!
  9. I'm eager for more of these "discovered" items. I'm not a Hubbard fan really, and I love the Hubbard!

New Morning is out in a newly remastered version as well (released the same time as the Dylan/Dead and Basement Tapes.) The sound is improved (on all three) and this is a favorite album of mine. "If Not For You" --- one of his most effective love songs.
  11. I have a lot of this on dubs from collector's tapes as well. As Marcel says, for completists only. I am happy with what I have of this, but the sound is not great. I'm not getting the cd.

I have Million Dollar Bash waiting to be read, for about seven months now. I'll get to it soon enough. . . maybe by the end of the year. Looks great. Duke is giving great recommendations for you both, Norm and Jon.

    Ouch! Get well Joe.
  14. Fuck Allen, that sounds like what I had in August, it was brutal. I couldn't see my doctor for five days. I saw a sort of miniclinic nurse who did nothing but give tests, one of which showed I didn't have the flu! Took me another four or five days to have no fever, and a week or two to really feel myself. I was on antibiotics ten days after seeing the doctor. I didn't make anyone else sick, even my girlfriend, which was amazing as much as we were together and how we were together.
  15. I hear that! I've been hoarding. I have two systems active, and could put together a third in thirty minutes.
  16. Yes keep us posted! Classical guitars are part of a whole 'nother world I've not traveled. Been playing my Fender American Deluxe Jazz fretless a lot these days. Like butter!

  18. Wow, glad to hear you have a roof and are playing! Congrats on your stamina and focus.
  19. Wow, too bad they didn't send me that one, I'd ebay it in a minute! I did get two copies of the print though. . . nice.
  20. Sorry John, you're right, I was confused as I have Ladnier on other King Jazz (Italian) cds.
  21. Greg, yes that's the stuff with Mezzrow. And Ladnier. And many other greats.
  22. Christina Hendricks. She was great in Firefly in a few episodes. Men are putty in her hands.
