Don't worry Chris, the real senility hasn't set in. . .you still remember who to vote for.
  2. See first gumbo was invented. . . then after about a hundred years Jazz came along. . . 1896. . . seems about right!
  3. I've always liked it too, and it was the recording that made me seek out the other Clarke-Boland recordings.
  4. I've got this coupled with another Jones date on an English Prestige twofer, but I'll eventually pick up the RVG (next Concord sale maybe). Good session. Cool "Barney Kessel" model Gibson!
  5. I don't want to speculate on why this hasn't come out on Blue Note. I personally don't think it's a great session, and the Fresh Sound cd sounds really flat . . . but then most of the cds of that vintage from that label sounded similar. Michael Cuscuna could either/or/both not like this and not like its sale potential. If they wanted to release it, having no master tape may not deter them, I know of several (a Bill Potts and a Horace Silver cd) releases from lp mastering. . . . Maybe one of those who have Michael's ear could get some information, Kevin or Reiner for instance.
  6. Great stuff isn't it! I haven't noticed the tracks duplicated on another label release. . . maybe Alfred bought it and released it. Maybe not. Someone here will have the answer.
  7. I think it's a needle drop.
  8. Yeah, come back and talk. Many many more happy returns!
  9. Continuing on my "health kick" of the summer (proper hydration, caffeine only in my morning mug of coffee, no sugar drinks, no alcohol) by my first full liter of the day: Crystal Geyser Sparkling Mineral Water

You're thinking of "Nina Simone and Piano" on RCA, 1970
  11. A year later and I still love my A8s! Another year has passed. . . . I love my A8s! Yes they clip around the ear, but they don't bother me as others have.
  12. Hi Jack, I didn't know about the Bluebird sides, thanks for mentioning them. You're absolutely right, GREAT musicians.
  13. Yes, Sony put out one of the shows. KILLER.
  14. Allen, keep the socks, winter is on the way. . . . I'm paypaling you now for the Country Joe.

Is there a legit edition with the bonus tracks? Which edition would you go for? Quite a chaos with Bethlehem albums... I'd say go for the Gambit that Mike mentions. I just have the material on two Bethlehem lps.

    Get the Bethlehem!
  17. I won't pretend to identify the saxophonist, but I think that's Tommy Potter on bass. . . and if i it IS. . . .
  18. Yeah! It was cheap. . .and they are out of my cheaper stuff. I used to hate sparkling mineral water, but this summer with it's million days of three digit degrees got me started and now I'm drinking two to three liters a day and feeling great.
  19. Apollinaris Classic sparkling mineral water (Germany)
  20. Listened to it? I'd be happy to get a shipping notice!
  21. Ja! The same performance, likely not as fine a mastering as that done by RVG for the Deluxe Edition.
  22. Chris, thanks for all the support and the knowledge and wisdom. Many many happy happy returns.
  23. Aric, even though that Savoy Hank Jones Trio lp was recorded on the day I was born, which makes it very special you do need some other piano trio lps. Let me recommend you try an Ahmad Jamal and a Red Garland for starters.
