  1. Yes, it really DOES show why he mattered! But then. . . I AM a Blue Ron fan!
  2. Listening to this one again today. Great release! eMusicable.
  3. Donna dosen't bother me, so I can't remember specifically if they "mixed her down," but the sound is great on that set. Of the three, Three from the Vault would be the one I'd keep if I could only keep one. But I like Dead earlier better than later.
  4. Oh feel free to weigh in. If I recollect within this thread I think you'll see it's been done before. Openly discussed. Not sure your discussion will get much attention but maybe! I just posted what I did, with included because I just felt it amusing the placement on page 100! But. . . what is there to discuss? You don't appear to want to be "convinced," you've made an effort to "get it" and haven't. So. . . if we get something you don't after quite a bit of time and some effort, and if we try to even articulate it, is there even a chance it will lead to "open discussion" that means anything to all concerned?
  5. I agree, the files at Speeding Arrow sound great. I haven't been over there in months, and should correct that soon.
  6. Thanks for weighing in. On the hundredth page of a thread about a band. . .you have to figure mostly read by people who don't care too much if you don't get it.
  7. I haven't heard this cd, but I do have the material as circulated among collectors and the sound is decent radio broadcast sound.
  8. Yeah, no need to be in a real hurry Jim. Might even find it really dirt cheap in a half-price cd bin. 7/4: here's the tracklisting: Disc ONE 1. On The Corner - (Unedited Master) 2. On The Corner - (Take 4) 3. One And One - (Unedited Master) 4. Helen Butte / Mr. Freedom X - (Unedited Master) 5. Jabali - (Demo) DISC 2: 1. Ife 2. Chieftain 3. Rated X 4. Turnaround 5. U-Turnaround DISC 3: 1. Billy Preston 2. Hen, The 3. Big Fun / Holly-wuud - (Take 2) 4. Big Fun / Holly-wuud - (Take 3) 5. Peace 6. Mr. Foster DISC 4: 1. Calypso Frelimo 2. He Loved Him Madly DISC 5: 1. Maiysha 2. Mtume 3. Mtume - (Take 11) 4. Hip-Skip 5. What They Do 6. Minnie DISC 6: 1. Red China Blues 2. On The Corner / New York Girl / Thinkin' Of One Thing And Doin' Another / Vote For Miles 3. Black Satin 4. One And One 5. Medley 6. Big Fun 7. Holly-wuud I think the bolded items are all previously unreleased. Nice to have some of these in studio versions; the themes are recognizable from the live material.
  9. Thanks to a board member, I did a trade and am now listening to the On the Corner Sessions box advance promo cdrs. This is going to be a really nice set. . . the unissued music is damned nice.

    What "recent revelations"? http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php...34163&st=30
  11. Well everyone, keep on passing on "Evolution of the Groove." Totally MISSABLE if you don't dig remix projects and all. If you do like them somewhat, this one is only marginably near "okay." I like the Santana remix partly because I like the trumpet solo used, one of my favorite Miles solos. And the final piece ably uses some Miles utterings in a Freedom Jazz Dance pastiche. There is a little bit of Miles directing the band and talking to the control booth that they're calling a Freddie Freeloader alternate. Not needed.
  12. More more more happy ones!
  13. Well, a search of the board indicates that over a year ago it was supposed to be repressed by the original cd releaser: http://www.jazzrecordsinc.com/2catalog.html
  14. Descent into the Maelstrom has/has been on cd in the US, through the Tristano family cd label I believe. . . . It's also appeared from Japan. It's a shame that now that these sessions and so many others appear from European labels as the material falls out of copyright there. . .we're not likely to see editions from the "owners."
  15. f.y.e. has it for 101 preorder. . . .
  16. Mark, my condolences. Hang tough. Welcome to "Mark!"
  17. Deep in my imagination I'm listening to the Ahmad Jamal Argo Mosaic set. . . .
  18. I like "Dr. Sax," it was one of the first Kerouacs I read. . . . Another JK fan I have known a long time HATES it. I have NO idea how you'll find it!
  19. I respect it, I like it, I like the Faulkner, and Henry Miller and Phillip K. Dick were responsible for parts of my current mind. Miller rules.
  20. Thanks R. I didn't quite know how to express that and you did.
  21. I saw that. Different street date. Different price. Different CD? I don't know. If it's different, it's a great price for a Japanese lp sleeve facimile!
  22. Hmmm.. . .I really like the sound on the Mosaic of this lp session, very dynamic.
