  1. What's most disappointing to me is that Collectables gets to license this, and we don't have a reissue from Legacy or Mosaic Singles.
  2. I'd like to see a collection of the radio broadcasts and television appearances of the Clarke Boland Big Band (and smaller ensembles)! I hope to see the next twelve volumes of D. E. T. S.! I want that damned "A Drum is a Woman" expanded reissue we deserve! I'd like to see a jazz Grammy to Allen Lowe for his excellent box sets!
  3. Good question Doc!
  4. "Duke's Mixture". . .the phrase usually refers to pipe tobacco blends? Well, it's a six track EP with: 1. I Let A Song Go Out Of My Heart (From "Cotton Club Parade of 1938") 2. The Hawk Talks 3. How High The Moon 4. Do Nothing Till You Hear From Me (Vocal by Al Hibbler) 5. V.I.P.'s Boog 6. The Mooche As far as I can tell. It seems to reissue material released on 78 from '38 to '52 or so. Sort of a dance compilation?
  5. Many more happy ones Tom!
  6. I don't think Mosaic is in trouble. In fact they're expanding into production, the Select and Single line seems to be prosperous. Yes, it's unfortunate this pirating of their work. . .I think it will mean possibly fewer older sets than I would like but. . . .in trouble? I would guess not.
  7. I agree with you Dan. . . Ryan Starr is a babe! So glad that Brandon left. . .though really I thought Shanjaya would be gone by now. I'm rooting for Jordin Sparks. I like her, think she's beautiful, and why bother to root for Lakeesha or Mellinda. . . they don't need my help!
  8. Yes, I'm just viewing "Mixture" as a freebie. . . doesn't make sense, but I agree, I think this is the future.
  9. The Flora Purim Milestone Sessions Mosaic. Oh wait a minute, no it's just all her Milestones downloaded from eMusic, back to back.
  10. Well, this definitely is not the way we'd LIKE to see this material issued, but on March 27 Collectables is issuing a cd that has a 10" Columbia from 1955 (Duke's Mixture) combined with the lp At the Bal Masque. Haven't seen it mentioned here yet. . . .I'm getting it.
  11. Jimmy Smith in jazz shorthand.
  12. I got that too. Price hasn't yet changed though. . . I ordered some right after receiving the message. And I just checked.
  13. "I'm going to see EDDIE HARRIS" That's the funniest bit in my opinion.
  14. There's just not enough sexy jazz videos. Make a lot more sexy jazz videos, watch the sales figures rise. Americans might then "like" jazz! ----Tongue in cheek, I think.
  15. MAN I wish I were 40! Many more happy ones Comrade Conrad!
  16. I think that is a very short Japanese musician, Ms. P. Hoto Shop.
  17. I keep digging the writing on "The Right Touch". . . the new RVG really resparked my liking of that one.
  18. I don't think I quite figured that out. Deus, glad you've been around ole pal!
  19. Blind Willie Johnson is SCARY good!
  20. I like this one. Mostly Ducal compositions and nothing earth shattering, but a nice solid date.
  21. New, but don't get excited unless you're a Tania Maria fan like me: Various Artists The Most Relaxing Chamber Album In The World...Ever! 2-CD Set Various Artists The Most Relaxing Guitar Album In The World...Ever! 2-CD Set Various Artists The Most Relaxing Flute Album In The World...Ever! 2-CD Set Various Artists Sweet & Sexy - The Best Of New Urban Jazz 2-CD Set Tania Maria Intimidade
  22. It's all so weird. Right now on cduniverse you can preorder the Mosaic/Contemporary, or you can buy the Atlantic cd (import? doesn't say) for a dollar less.
  23. I agree. Possibly the best of the later Tyner Blue Notes.
