  1. Very glad to be hearing this. About your miraculous recovery. Keep going.
  2. Same goes for me. I had the luck of getting the second box, the one with Jaco, recently. But as the first box is from 2012 I have the hope that it will be reissued this year. Let's see...
  3. I have a Capitol CD of The Complete Goodman Trios with Mel Powell, Jimmy Rowles or Teddy Wilson. From 1999. It was probably culled from that box.
  4. Hat off to Ghost who hipped me to this. It's an in-depth survey on glam rock and its followers, by Simon Reynolds, one of the most interesting writers on popular culture from the last times. I know his Retromania, Pops obsession with its own past. Turns out he's my age. So he's lived through both glam and post punk. Just as me: the first as a kid, the second in my twens. Glam and Post punk are the two faces of the same coin. And Reynolds has books on both, which I both have.
  5. Oh, I recently read Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy which I liked.
  6. Thanks. Yes, maybe this was beyond her time with Mapplethorpe.
  7. By the way, now that I look at it again, is this a Mapplethorpe photo? It could be, because they were engaged and often collaborated artistically. There are many Mapplethorpe pictures of her.
  8. Sorry for the size, but it's the only pic I found. A very nice collection of italian soundtrack music for terror movies. With Morricone, Bruno Nicolai, Riz Ortolani and many others I don't remember right now.
  9. Here it's been really hot during the second December half. Contrary to what it was on the first. But really record breaking hot. There have been even people on the beach and the sea on New Year.
  10. By the way, the dog of a friend of mine is called garnacha. It's a she. You can tell by the name...
  11. That one, together with Horses, had a very strong impression on me when growing up.
  12. Oh, I never knew she had a solo career. I know her from Delaney & Bramlett, but nothing else
  13. Great covers, but what is it that he's carrying on the second and which reflects also to the other side? But now with the uncomparable I like that album sooo much. And it has such a load of good songs.
  14. Very great documentary. But I haven't seen it whole. I'm seeing parts. And what Brad said about learning.
  15. There was a Nu Disco movement in the 90s. Completely agree with this. Yesss, especially the first and last. And all the other ones. That's completely true. I have a wonderful compilation called Disco Not Disco about the early 80s clash of disco and punk. Specially in NY.
  16. I just had a little bit of a Rosé cava, just to celebrate. And during dinner Cap de Ruc, a garnacha red wine.
  17. And that one is also one of my faves. And now: With Brookmeyer. A fantastic concert.

    Bola Sete

Yes, and his name means 7 ball.
  19. This is one of my favorite Miles! It's so moody and noir. Plus the movie is great too.
  20. Yes, that was a nice surprise. And there I heard for the first time Wilson with Ayers, if memory serves. Something I was asking myself about at another post. Wilson alone I already knew before.
  21. This looks interesting. Will possibly explore it.
  22. For the umpteenth time. I really enjoy this. The songs. They're marvellous. And about what Medjuck once said, yes its mostly vocal. But there are always some moments in every song with just the trio. Plus some trio tracks. And Cole was a hell of a pianist in the first place.
  23. Yes, Ramblin is very good (hearing it myself). And I coincide in his work with Ayers. Perhaps his strongest.
  24. Thanks very much. But I didn't think it was that bad. If he's recovering, hail to that.
