  1. Today's Fresh Air is devoted to a tribute to Jackie. It's a rebroadcast of an interview.
  2. "There can be some exceptions such as when a set is returned and that number is then recirculated back into the system." So we're BOTH right! Meanwhile.......I just placed my JJJ order. I think I should have it by Friday or Monday. I wonder what number it will be. A "good one", I hope. But definitely higher than 4860, right? Do we have that straight now??? DEFINITELY (maybe) ... unless it's a returned copy.
  3. It's amazing (and very sad) how both he and Strawberry just can't seem to get it together.

  5. That one's already been mentioned. The Green Mosaic has dates with Ike Quebec that aren't on the Blue Note double; that set only has the sessions with Sonny Clark. The Quebec dates are (were?) available elsewhere. Oh.........right. Feel free to ignore my post.
  6. The Grant Green, also. I believe that much of it is in "THE COMPLETE QUARTETS WITH SONNY CLARK".

  8. You know what happens when you "assume", don't you?
  9. Don't miss the Jazz Messengers with Morgan, Golson, Timmons
  10. There's a really sweet-looking 1958 Jazz Messengers album with Lee Morgan, Benny Golson and Bobby Timmons from this series. Also worth checking out: - A couple of recent live Oregon albums (Yoshi's, Moscow) - World Trio with Dave Holland, Mino Cinelu, Kevin Eubanks - Hermeto Pascoal - "Só Não Toca Quem Não Quer" - Astor Piazzolla & Quinteto Tango Nuevo - "Live in Colonia, 1984"
  11. I'm with Free on this. I think it has been determined that they don't necessarily ship the big boxes in numerical order.
  12. If all the hippies cut off all their hair, I don't care. I got my own world to live in, and I ain't gonna copy you.
  13. Billy Mitchell - Frank Mitchell - Frank Foster
  14. Don't forget "Midnight Mood" by Mark Murphy with an octet of Clarke-Boland bandmembers backing him.
  15. I think it was my second set....after Larry Young. Great stuff! FWIW, there's one on ebay right now - still under $100 if anyone's looking for it.
  16. I only saw him once and unfortunately don't have a great recollection of the show - but I'm SURE it was great. 12/30/1979 - Keystone Korner, San Francisco: Art Blakey & the Jazz Messengers Reunion w/Cedar Walton, Billy Harper, Curtis Fuller, Airto, Jackie McLean, Eddie Henderson
  17. Yeah......nice album. I never listened to him all that much before.

    Harold Land

He did some nice work on Bill Evans' "Quintessence" album.
  19. What??? Damn. RIP, Jackie.
  20. Looks like I'm going to have to order this one. (It's all YOUR fault, Free For All!)
  21. Crap. I might actually have to buy the JJ now. I wasn't going to at first, but too many people have said too many good things about it. Well......what's another $100+??
  22. That pretty much sums it up for me, too, MD.
  23. He'll be here this Saturday night with Zooid for the SF Jazz Festival
  24. Blondie Veronica Dagwood
