  1. Pretty much agree about the Roxy band - for technical excellence at the very least. Don't have a particular soft spot for F&E except for "Another Band from LA" because I was at that show. Every version of Zappa's bands have their own unique traits, though.
  2. First time I saw him was in '79 at the KK with Hilton. Also right after Amsterdam After Dark - one of his best. The first Eastern Rebellion is a classic of the era, too.
  3. Agreed that their music has held up well and also about Morrissey who hasn't. Johnny Marr has done a much better job of keeping the spirit of the Smiths alive, as well as releasing a few good solo albums along the way. I've seen him a number of times in concert, too - always good.
  4. Probably never happen, but I'd love to see this album with Larry Young reissued by someone.
  5. Saw them today. Good show!
  6. Yes. Very odd hearing this guy singing Flora's parts.
  7. Don't know if this has been posted already
  8. Tarbaby was VERY good!
  9. **Rescheduled for Saturday due to weather** Tomorrow (Thurs) at The Jazz Gallery TARBABY Sets at 7.30pm + 9.30pm EDT; $20/$5 members Orrin Evans -piano Eric Revis -bass Nasheet Waits -drums
  10. I've seen both Teardrop covers. I had the group shot cover on vinyl, too. Hoodoo Gurus aren't that well known in the US, either. They do have a following, but not exactly household names. There are a lot of Australian bands that deserve more recognition!
  11. Interesting!
  12. Big Ears for me, too. Solo and with Jason Moran. RIP, Mr Graves
  13. Jazzmeia Horn w/Orrin Evans Trio at Smoke this weekend
