  1. Nice to have all these albums! Once I got it I realized that the only one I had a physical copy of was Melting in the Dark. So ... win-WYNN!
  2. Whichever city wins the WS, they will hold 2 major league sports championships this year. Kinda fluke-y!
  3. That was the first group I saw Max with. Mind blowing seeing him and being introduced to Billy Harper at the same time.
  4. Wild game, for SURE! That final sequence was epic.
  5. Been to the Strand a LOT - when I lived in NYC in the 80s and when I visit. It would be sad to see it close. Their slogan is "18 Miles Of Books." Maybe if they downsized to "10 Miles" they could make it work!
  6. Don't have that one.
  7. Almost anything by Billy or with him is worth getting. I have a lot of those albums including Lodestar. I've never seen those other albums he recorded with Max. I first "discovered" Billy seeing him with Max at the Keystone Korner in the late 70s. Been a huge fan ever since. Try to see the Cookers whenever they're in the Bay Area.
  8. Not bad considering they haven't recorded any new material in almost 20 years.
  9. Maybe I'm late to the party, but I just realized there are a lot of classic SteepleChase albums available for streaming on Amazon Music.
  10. Village Vanguard, Friday/Saturday: Ravi Coltrane Quartet Ravi Coltrane – Saxophones David Virelles – Piano Dezron Douglas – Bass Johnathan Blake – Drums
  11. Yeah - SO many albums! I have some of the Earland and Murphy LPs but don't have a turntable setup anymore unfortunately. Some of the Mark Murphy stuff has been reissued in compilations on Concord/Savoy: "Songbook" and "Giants of Jazz: Mark Murphy"
  12. As 80s pop albums go, that's a pretty good one. Just stumbled upon this one. Good songwriting, and well produced.
  13. Not sure if it's been discussed already, but a whole lot of Muse albums are sitting out there OOP and unavailable on digital.
  14. Starting with this album from Steve's new "Decade" box
  15. I have this 1965 studio album by the Sextet that's pretty good. Would be interesting to hear some of these tunes in a live setting.
  16. I like Potter. Recently saw a Zoom discussion between him and Miguel Zenon, which was pretty interesting.
  17. That was a good show. Agreed about Azar - he was in top form. Not as old as I thought - 66. Having first heard him in the early 70s with McCoy I figured he had to at least be in his 70s.
  18. Saw the Pharaoh Sanders/Azar Lawrence show from Zebulon in LA. It was very well done. The 2 saxes sounded great together, too. Although it was shown yesterday, it was actually recorded last month.
