  1. Sat in on Mary's Bandcamp listening party for her new album today. Sounded great, so I pre-ordered it.
  2. Saw Rudolph, Liebman and Hamid Drake at the NYC Winter JazzFest 2019. Good show! He was at Big Ears this year, but I didn't get a chance to see him.
  3. Went to this show, waited a few hours past when he was supposed to hit the stage. Finally went home about midnight. RIP, Sly!
  4. I still have a collection of 78s that belonged to my parents. Anyone have suggestions about "disposing" of them? I asked the buyer at Amoeba if they buy them, and he said "No". But I don't want to throw them away.

    Anthony Braxton

Braxton/Fei - 10/17/21 in SF, Other Minds Festival
  6. I thought I was done with Mosaic (nothing bad, just trying to reduce box "clutter"), but this is an interesting turn of events. Haven't heard all these albums, but there IS some really good stuff there.
  7. "Oar On, Penelope!" by The Minus 5 [seeing them on Wednesday]
  8. I booked a hotel room, but will also wait for deals from Big Ears (which should be published in the next few months)
  9. RIP Mr. Foster When I saw him with Miles in Berkeley 1982
  10. I always liked this album. There's a relatively recent remaster that sounds great, too.
  11. Definitely sad. I know I saw him 2-3 times in NY in the 80s. Probably at the original Roulette. A one of a kind, for sure.
  12. Saw him with Roscoe and the expanded AEC at Big Ears in 2019
  13. Thanks. At this point I don't think I need to continuously upgrade unless there are major revelations.
  14. I would be interested to know how the new reissues compare to other relatively new ones, like the Mosaic Select Tolliver, and the Mosaic Clifford Jordan box
  15. Cool! Not often you get to see musicians of that caliber in a space that holds (MAYBE) 30 people?
  16. Not necessarily "new releases", but in the past couple of years I discovered Clean Feed Records (Portugal) and the great variety of albums they put out. Not only that but their CDs are VERY affordable, especially when they have sales -frequently 50% off, about 5€!
  17. I don't know their music that well, but this album is pretty impressive
