  1. An unacceptably late post to this video but I was stunned to see and hear the level of ignorance and disrespect by Hoffman. I can deal with the ignorance but the arrogance and disrespect was beyond anything that I have seen. I have no sympathy for him for the heated backlash and the tidal wave of negative responses he received. He deserved all of it. Not for his ignorance but because of the toxic and seething disrespect on so many levels.Yes, he is entitled to his opinion. I have no issues with that regardless of how I may disagree with someone's opinions. But when you show such contemptuous arrogance and disrespect...well..you get what you deserve. He needs to understand when you use the language he used....THEN YOU SHOULD EXPECT PEOPLE TO RESPOND IN KIND! E'nuff said....

  9. Listening to J.D. Allen Trio live at the Village Vanguard at NPR....
  10. One of my favorite piano players. Love his playing! I like him in a trio or solo setting vice a band.....personal preference...
  11. I saw and talked to Mulgrew last year at the Monterey Jazz Fest. The last tme I saw and spoke to him before that was when he was in the Terence Blanchard and Donald Harrison group back in the 80's. I saw them one evening at the Village Vanguard. Fine piano player. I really liked his plaing......
  12. Loved the mans music. He was one of my favorite blues singers. Saw him in person once and he sounded just like his records. A major loss to the art of blues.....

  14. Found a prestine copy in a record shop in Berkeley, CA this week....!
  15. I listen to KCSM FM in San Mateo, Ca on Thursday nights to a show called "All Out" by a hip dj called Greg Bridges. All hard core creative improvised music. No hip-pop, commercial or silly smooth jazz...
  16. WKCR is great! Love how they will do 24 hour plus playing of selected artists on their birthdays....

  19. Love Booker Ervin's playing. One of the first jazz records I listened to was "Structurally Sound"....awsome recording.
  20. Fine musician who made excellent and challenging music. So many great masters are fading. It's the reality of life but still sad......
