  1. Love Dexter's playing. I'll be adding this Columbia box to my collection next.....
  2. Just got it...!!!!!!!!!!
  3. Never was much of a Sheila Jordan fan. Couldn't get into Abby Lincoln either. Oh well......
  4. Good luck with that project. Sounds ambitious and interesting.....
  5. Just checked it out. Glad to see they are still around. I'm also glad to see Cadence improve their online website presentation. I never understood why they use an archaic HTML constructed site. Made no sense to me. I checked out a sample of their current online subscription magazine. It could still use some work but a major improvement over what it was like before. It's still a viable outlet for serious improvised music. Thinking about getting an online subscription to support their efforts......
  6. Sam Rivers was one of my favorite musicians. Very original and an uncompromising artist who was always on the cutting edge of creative improvised music. I'm going to play this Blue Note gem as soon as I finish this post......
  7. Wow! Sam rivers was a fantastic artist. Loved his original playing and compositions. Sadly, I missed this one....
  8. Finally got it yesterday. Still foaming at the mouth............
  9. Haven't read it yet, but plan to. Did anyone see the HBO special a while back about her?
  10. Well, I guess time will tell. I hope they continue to publish. It is a fine publication that is serious about the music.......
  11. Wow! I thought I was the only one who noticed Schaap's droning on and on. I still listen to him and he does have some nice stories to tell but his rambling can become tedious.......
  12. I love Monks music. I will listen to the archived show since I missed the original broadcast.....
  13. Love this cover.......
  14. Hard choices. I love all those recordings. Ornette is one of my favorite artists. You can't go wrong with any of the listed recordings......
  15. I hate to see this but I am one of the reasons they are folding. Haven't renewed my subscription for many years. I still have copies from back in the 70's. Hate to see a magazine that was serious about creative improvised music go away.
  16. Point well taken. But with pathologically addicted Miles Davis crack heads like me, they can issue the same music over and over with different packaging, graphics and new linear notes and losers like me will buy it again, knowing they already have two or three other versions of the exact same recordings. Yeah, it's sick and I'm the first to admit it......
  17. Oh God! I missed this one. This program really sounded like a classic set. From the aforementioned listing, these are all my favorite Rollin tunes. Well....maybe next time....
  18. Nice program. It's refreshing to hear serious creative music being aired in this current debacle of media hyped trash music. Good work......
  19. Funny you should ask that. I was just looking at some vintage Down Beats I have from the middle 1960's. I suggest you look on line for different magazine sellers. I bought mine from Gary Alderman about twenty years ago. I'm sure he has more to sell. Check it out for yourself..... gary alderman jazz
  20. The JRM is a great place. I remember back in the day when it was the size of your living room. It was tiny but stocked with hard core and high quality records. It's come a long way since then. I did visit the JMT about 10 years ago. I heard some music coming from the back. I went to check it out and it was Fred Anderson getting down with a small group. It was awesome.....
