Lucille Rollins, wife of world-renowned jazz saxophonist Sonny Rollins, died today at her Hudson Valley home in Germantown. She was 76. Lucille and Sonny Rollins married in 1957, and she became her husband's full-time business manager in 1971. The couple settled in Germantown in 1972. She is survived by her husband. Born July 5, 1928 in Kansas City, Missouri, Lucille Rollins was a graduate of Ball State University. She worked as an administrative assistant in the physics departments at the University of Chicago and New York University. Services and burial will be private. Arrangements are by the Yadack-Fox Funeral Home in Germantown. -- Associated Press Quote

robviti Posted November 28, 2004 Report Posted November 28, 2004 i had the opportunity to talk with ms. rollins one afternoon in the early 80s when sonny was playing at the club in which i worked. she struck me as an intelligent individual and a good manager. what i will remember most, however, is how close she and sonny were and what a loving couple they made. my heartful sympathy goes out to sonny at this difficult time.
