king ubu Posted June 9, 2005 Report Posted June 9, 2005 To bring this one back on topic... my set has already arrived! Very fast delivery (I went for overseas shipping)!!! ← Congratulations, man. It's a good set to have. You will enjoy it. You will enjoy it or else! ← Don't be afraid, else I will sell it on Ebay for at lesat 500$... I sure will enjoy it! Quote
Shawn Posted June 10, 2005 Report Posted June 10, 2005 I just got #3165 this evening (although I've had all the music contained in other sources for awhile now). There was no way I was going to let this puppy go out of print on me...I adore Byrd's Blue Note recordings, have 'em all, play them to death and never get tired of it. I wish I had $5 for everytime I've spun Fuego.... Great set, don't pass it up. Sound quality is fine. Quote
Big Deal Posted June 10, 2005 Report Posted June 10, 2005 Man! I never should of started reading this thread! As a relitive newcomer to buying jazz, this is not going to do my bank balance any good. After reading about half way through, I decided to buy this. Then I finished reading the rest and now that Turretine set is sounding like something I would like. And the Mobley and the Parlan and-----Oh Good God! Well at least now I'll see what all the fuss is about Mosaic. Quote
Alfred Posted June 10, 2005 Report Posted June 10, 2005 GONE! ← That was really fast. Hope everyone here pulled the trigger in time! Quote
Ron S Posted June 10, 2005 Author Report Posted June 10, 2005 GONE! ← That was really fast. Hope everyone here pulled the trigger in time! ← And to think that some people (we won't embarrass tranemonk by mentioning him specifically) actually thought that they could wait until this weekend to order. Big Al Posted June 10, 2005 Report Posted June 10, 2005 Completely gone! It's not listed in the "Sets No Longer Available," nor is it listed anywhere else on the site! Quote
Soulstation1 Posted June 10, 2005 Report Posted June 10, 2005 shit i am not very happy, i even called mosaic to double check Quote

Guest Chaney Posted June 10, 2005 Report Posted June 10, 2005 For anyone who missed out, I understand Dmitry has two extra sets. Quote
wesbed Posted June 10, 2005 Report Posted June 10, 2005 I purchased the Byrd/Adams box a few months ago. As a result I had no reason to be involved in the fun of purchasing when the set was moved to Last Chance. Still, it was enjoyable to watch and read the posts about the set. The set contains some major players and shows just how quickly a good set can sell when it's about to go out of print. I'll be one of the Last Chance buyers if ever the Capitol Jazz box reaches the end of its Mosaic life. Quote
Tjazz Posted June 10, 2005 Report Posted June 10, 2005 What's that saying? You always want what you can't have. Quote

However, I hope it doesn't take THAT long for the Capitol Jazz box to reach OOP status. Quote
Jazzmoose Posted June 10, 2005 Report Posted June 10, 2005 Well, I didn't get this one. I wanted it, and wish I could have picked it up. On the other hand, I'm proud of myself for not reaching for the plastic when I shouldn't... Now the trick will be not convincing myself that, since I didn't get it, I'm 'entitled' to purchase a buncha CDs somewhere else! Quote

You start flashin' too much of that stuff around these parts and you could earn some serious enemies and wind up in a pine box! Quote
J.A.W. Posted June 10, 2005 Report Posted June 10, 2005 Picked it up twice. First time was years ago, didn't like the sound compared to the TOCJs and sold it, then purchased it again recently because I wanted the non-TOCJ albums... Quote

It sounds very good to me. Quote

The set sounded a tad too bright and tinny - though I must admit that the TOCJs sounded too warm, with the higher frequencies rolled-off too much. I must also admit that I'm one of those who generally don't like Ron McMaster's mastering jobs. Quote
