Charles Tyler - Voyage from Jericho

It's good, but different.

I bought it expecting something like his earlier free material. It isn't really free, and is eclectic and relatively quiet. Some excellent playing and arrangements by Tyler.

Some vocals that also were unexpected.

I recommend with the proviso that it's not like the earlier free jazz dates. You can audition it on Youtube.

I also have this, which is good and more in the free mold:

Going back to CadNor - is FollyFun Music worth picking up?

Like the others said, you should definitely sample it before buying... If you hate Bob Dylan, it's probably not for you... I like it quite a bit...

Forgot about YouTube - duh.

I like the instrumental tracks. The vocal tracks are weird. The first sounds like a nod to Dylan, but the second is more a nod to Jim Pepper.

The whole YouTube thing makes me wonder - do I still need to collect CDs? I have definitely been winding down as I approach retirement. Doing a lot more downloads.

So I will skip this one but still looking at Live in Europe. Anything else on the Cadnor site worth picking up? You know my tastes :)

I've got quite a number of Cadence LPs and CDs (as well as CIMP discs). Pretty interesting and important label and distribution pathway (Cadence/North Country Distribution = Cadnor), not to mention the magazine. Too bad the founder turned out to be such a sicko.

Live in Europe is great, and Melvin Smith, the guitarist, is cool. He has a solo guitar LP that is pretty neat (albeit perhaps for completists only).

Yes, I was going to ask - is the Cadence Building (if there really is such a building) now a pedophile-free zone?
