  4. Thanks, my bad. I missed the Japanese release of Fiorello. Plus, I didn't see a discography link at The Classic Oscar Peterson Trio Studio Sessions With Ray Brown & Ed Thigpen Limited Edition (#285 - 8 CDs) - so I was just going from the 12 pictured album covers.
  5. Fiorello has been on cd. https://www.amazon.com/Fair-Lady-Fiorello-Oscar-Peterson/dp/B0000046TO/ref=sr_1_2?crid=VVXTTI9J6W0S&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.e4H9oXnu6IKT0CZgBKN9-1vQv1MeuvaHUwZe-tfV6JCCMYa1e2X4afF4CVucHfKrKaJn60r911oeQsYWhCuKGeR48uTTM2-p5gRHQe5EoJuAaK_uEb5xE_yxGSSTU_y2chY37vQ0vWcM4UU5SY6-_SYoc7HiX_jmhAqGXyyf2ror3YAOHRyiVPEF6mmBg5ZI.KV_4mrh92eygs9p5_AiGUqXjtC_X0d0eofxbZORHy44&dib_tag=se&keywords=Oscar+Peterson+Fiorello&qid=1778693126&sprefix=oscar+peterson+fiorello%2Caps%2C111&sr=8-2 I don't believe "We had a Ball" has been on cd, nor "The Greatest Names in Jazz" (3 LP compilation, one Peterson track).
  6. AFAICT (consulting discogs), of the 12 albums pictured on the Mosaic page, only Fiorello has not appeared on CD. Although many of the various CD releases were Japanese.
  7. I think that a qualifying line is missing, i.e. that the cds listed contain material that was not out on the original LPS. I think only 3 of the LPs listed have themselves not been out on cd, maybe only 2.
  8. You were not far off the mark. Just listened to that Jazzpickers LP. The intro gives it away - and so do the liner notes. Quote: "Evening in Azerbaijan, a Latin-tinged theme in the minor mode, might have been called 'The Day after the Night in Tunisia' ...". Nuff said? That would have been a post for the "Night In Tunisia" thread too.
  9. I am most intrigued by the expansion of "old stand by" sets with mostly guaranteed audiences to now include a Verve recording artist. (well, for most of these anyway). Seems like the same effort to keep the lights on with a set with a strong likelihood of sales at this point in time. Not that i don't support Mosaic doing what is necessary to keep the lights on.
  10. That's why I'm confused. I'm extremely interested (and will need to dig through the discography more) but my instinct was that more of this has been out on CD... I mean his estate is the main body (his daughter) who's putting out unreleased stuff and all of that is live, previously unreleased material. I guess I find it hard to think that's there's a lot of studio stuff that hasn't been out before... (Is what I'm saying making sense?)
  11. I know some on the Board are not big fans of O.P., but I enjoy his playing and always liked this trio. Like Lon, I've ordered every Mosaic for a long time (even the Pharaoh Sanders, though that took some thinking), and I also don't have all these, so I'm looking forward to it.
  12. I'm not sure how Mosaic is listing these, not no, more than three have appeared on cd. And yes, Weiss is a co-producer.
  13. A bit off-track but Harry Babasin has a song called "Evening In Azerbaijan." It took quite a while to track down (EmArcy MG-36123), but it does exist and I have a copy. I simply can't remember off the top of my head if it borrows heavily from Night in Tunisia or maybe just takes the chords, or indeed if it is a completely different tune. I'll try to listen again tonight.
  14. I'm thankful for the Noah Howard and Clifford Thornton Ezz-thetic releases, which each contain two full albums (the Thornton has the BYG Arthur Jones on it), and have the Horace Silver, which seems to be the best version of that material. But so many of those Ezz-thetic sets are botched by having cuts missing from the albums they include, which is a sure fire sign of not understanding a serious jazz consumer. I thought we had escaped that after the early days of CD's with all of those botched Impulse and Argo releases.
  15. So from a quick reading of the discography only 3 of these have been previously release as CDs? And is this David Weiss the trumpeter who's the producer?
  16. Thigpen's drums and Brown's bass are really nice and clear on the samples. Looking forward to this. Curious that they are only putting out 2500 of these. I guess they don't see much of a market?
  17. Well, if Mosaic does not include or at least mention that track in its box it is quite likely there is no such thing (on its own) as an "Abyssinia" tune. So what was that tune? You got me curious, so I'd like to know too.

  19. Damn this is good!!! I've listened to so many people cover Monk, I forgot what it was like to listen to Monk....
  20. I would love to get those remastered. I have a box of those but from what I remember it wasn't memorable... (I might have to take them out for another spin though...)
  21. Downtown Music Gallery has a reissue LP of People In Sorrow by PlayItLoud Records or something like that. Maybe a dumb question but does anyone know if this is a good reproduction? I never got this LP but hate to pay $27 for something that sounds poor.
