  2. They started by reissuing the Complete Plugged Nickel set, both in CD and vinyl, with "new liner notes and track-by-track commentary by Syd Schwartz alongside Bob Blumenthal’s original essay."

  5. Does that mean he won't be recording / touring with them any more? I would be a bit interested in hearing some more small group Marsalis at this point, I guess. Harsh, but fair.
  6. Up early. -3 degrees and saw a party of deer walk through the side lot, always a thrill to see life in the moonlight. Starting off a quiet listening session with Kenny Burrell “Ellington is Forever, Vol. 1” on Fantasy/OJC cd. Yes, Ellington IS forever.
  7. Climaco Sarmiento Y Su Orquesta – Bombo Y Maracas
  8. Wow. I feel better now. 🤡
  9. Fascinating discovery, Dan. Simmen was a well reputed promoter of stride piano.

  12. His & Hers - Netflix
  13. Dusty carries such Japanese books occasionally. On one blurb I read a while back, they claimed that intrepid buyers could use their phones to translate the Japanese text. I don't see that claim in the above blurb, but it still might be possible. 😉
  14. This is fantastic.
  15. I just found out about this compilation that was released last Fall. Seems to be a Cherry Red release, which are generally excellent. It has a chunk of Morricone's avant-garde work plus some other interesting material by Berio (incl Sinfonia w. Swingle Singers!), Nono and Maderna. Doesn't fit into the budget right now, but on the long-term wish list.
  16. I thought the 3/10/60 tracks were bonus tracks on Out of the Blue? We need to tell him about Huss Charles
