  4. Lots of "sub-combinations" for sure! Some of the albums I've listened to are Barbieri/Jensen. You're probably right about the HoF. There are so many overlooked artists anyway, it doesn't really matter. I forgot about "Steppin' Out" - VERY 'Garage'!
  5. IIRC based on a play by A.W. Pinero which I read in grad school.
  6. Jansen (Sylvian's brother) has some worthwhile material as well. And the various sub-combinations of all 4 of them.
  7. I've got a download of that record and love it - still whiffed on the guess.
  8. Congrats! Will give it a listen soon.
  9. Sorry, we've got family in from out of town. Yeah, nice offering, like the added percussion. And totally agree with you about singers. Singing and dancing, no matter how abstracted, pretty much is what I want to hear in any music. It's what makes things human "Songs"...not so much for me these days, but really getting inside a song, any song, is not for the faint of heart. Finding truth never is . Keep putting it out there. Glad you're doing it;

  11. The Raiders got marketed as teeny-bopper, but I swear that a fair amount of their stuff hits harder today than ever. Pure Garage Rock with a Columbia production budget. They belong in the R&R HOF, joke that it is, as much as anybody.
  12. Griot Galaxy Live at the DIA
  13. That was an early favorite of mine. "Kicks", too! The last year or so I've been listening to a lot of David Sylvian, Mick Karn and Richard Barbieri albums. Great stuff!
  14. Yesterday
  15. It got reissued somehow a few years ago on BGP or some label like that. Maybe a Japan thing. Dusty Groovee had it.
  16. I seem to remember late (like December) of 1996 but it may have been later. No matter when it started, it wasn't around for very long. I hung out at various Jazz forums back then and even the AAJ and The Jazz Corner forums held on longer than the Blue Note board.
  17. I found it at Blue Note Records in Miami years ago, about $20 IIRC. Doubt I would have recognized it though had I listened to the track.
  18. 👍 Now: This is a very good CD.
  19. Scofield's sideman appearance on the Ray Drummond disc above prompted me to pull this one from the shelf: with Joe Lovano, Charlie Haden and Jack DeJohnette
  20. Reissue of Aketa's Disk release. Despite the weird cover, it's fun listening and definitely interesting.
  21. Wow! Crazy rare album, off my radar.👍
  22. I must admit, until a few years it was the same here. I tried to avoid gigs with singers, but now I love it, it´s a great art to really get into the songs, to play the verses of songs, learn the lyrics, and I am very pleased that my great singer Lili Maljic performed my compositon "Tune for Pharoah" with such a great dedication. Meanwhile, though Lili is my favourite singer, I work also with other singers, since we all in my formation have our own comittments in other musical surroundings, of course. As soon as the album was released, it was already history for me since I already signed for the next album and we´ll be in the recording studios again in autumn. I composed a new ballad and Lili works on the lyrics for it, because that´s the purpose of ballads.... Anyway, even here in the Forum I got help from @JSngry years ago, when I had to play a gig with a singer and asked in the Musician Forum for some advices. Where is @JSngry ? I would love to read a feedback from him on that latest record of mine, especially because it has a great female singer !
