  1. Past hour
  2. Except for that legendary TV show where had to represent real jazz as opposed to Brötzmann's version, that was a bit embarrassing... Will think of him every Sunday when Tatort starts with his famous theme song (which we also played in the school orchestra back in the day)... And I agree that his 60s albums are nice...
  3. The Cookers played that at SFJAZZ last night
  4. Interesting band. Don't know that much about them, but they played here in SF recently. Unfortunately I didn't go. Excellent album.
  5. Today
  6. GoGo Penguin was in town. I enjoyed the show, though I definitely prefer groups with a horn involved somehow. I would say all three are very good musicians, but the drummer is at another level. Apparently, this was the very last gig on this leg of the tour, and they are flying back to the UK tomorrow.
  7. That's a great track - show's Lacy's bop chops, among other fine solos. Great writing ...

  9. Week 20 results Winnipeg 17....Sask 16 I don't think Mace cared about winning the game. Despite playing their subs, the Riders led 16-14 after three. So Mace played their third-string quarterback Coan in the fourth, and Castillo kicked a walk-off field goal. https://www.cfl.ca/2025/10/17/cfl-2025-recap-saskatchewan-winnipeg-week-20/ https://www.cfl.ca/2025/10/17/bombers-come-out-on-top-of-defensive-showdown-against-riders/ https://www.tsn.ca/cfl/article/blue-bombers-inch-closer-to-playoff-berth-with-narrow-win-over-roughriders/ https://3downnation.com/2025/10/17/winnipeg-blue-bombers-x-other-thoughts-2/ https://3downnation.com/2025/10/18/saskatchewan-roughriders-somehow-only-lose-by-one-to-winnipeg-nine-other-thoughts/ https://pifflespodcast.com/blog/rider-backups-fall-1-point-short-of-bombers-starters-in-meaningless-game/ https://cflnewshub.com/cfl-news/cfl-scores-today-winnipeg-blue-bombers-17-saskatchewan-roughriders-16-castillo-delivers-walk-off-field-goal/ https://www.cfl.ca/2025/10/17/3-stats-that-defined-winnipegs-week-20-win-over-saskatchewan/ ***** BC 37....Edmonton 24 BC was clearly the better team. With the loss, the Elks were eliminated from the playoffs. Thus, the Bombers and the Stampeders clinched playoff berths. https://www.cfl.ca/2025/10/18/recap-bc-37-edmonton-24/ https://www.cfl.ca/2025/10/18/lions-stay-hot-roll-past-elks-for-fifth-straight-victory/ https://www.tsn.ca/cfl/article/lions-win-fifth-straight-eliminate-elks-from-playoff-picture/ https://3downnation.com/2025/10/18/edmonton-elks-get-devoured-by-lions-again-in-elimination-loss-six-other-thoughts/ https://3downnation.com/2025/10/18/nathan-rourke-runs-rampant-as-b-c-lions-humanely-euthanize-elks-12-other-thoughts/ https://cflnewshub.com/cfl-news/cfl-scores-today-bc-lions-37-edmonton-elks-24-lions-roar-back-for-fifth-straight-win/ https://www.cfl.ca/2025/10/18/3-stats-that-defined-bcs-week-20-win-over-edmonton/ ***** Playoffs situation https://3downnation.com/2025/10/18/calgary-stampeders-clinch-cfl-playoff-spot-after-one-year-hiatus/ https://3downnation.com/2025/10/18/edmonton-elks-officially-eliminated-from-cfl-playoff-contention/ https://3downnation.com/2025/10/18/winnipeg-blue-bombers-clinch-berth-in-cfl-playoffs-for-ninth-consecutive-season/ ***** Week 20 previews https://cflnewshub.com/cfl-news/calgary-stampeders-9-7-week-20-preview-vs-toronto-argonauts-5-12-prediction-depth-chart-injuries-odds/ https://cflnewshub.com/cfl-news/toronto-argonauts-5-12-week-20-preview-vs-calgary-stampeders-9-7-prediction-depth-chart-injuries-odds/ https://cflnewshub.com/cfl-news/cfl-schedule-today-october-17th-2025-montreal-vs-ottawa-toronto-vs-calgary-tv-channels-live-stream-odds/
  10. Too bad. I also dig his 60s work.
  11. I love this and the Mosaic. Too many candidates.
  12. Decided to replay “Brilliant” Argo release from this 2 LP cd as I didn’t get to fully absorb it this morning. Was a great event this afternoon in Mentor. Love Don Goldie’s sound! 200×200 57.2 KB IMG416×415 36.9 KB
  13. My first Doldinger on clarinet from 1960 with Manfred Lahnstein (tb), later Finance Minister in the cabinet of Chancellor Helmut Schmidt and a close friend of him.
  14. Didn't Charles Gayle don makeup too for his shows?
  15. Yeah, Neil is an essential part of Rush. So glad I got to see them with Neil. Irreplacable IMO. Led Zep reached the same conclusion when John Bonham died (though Jason has filled in for subsequent reunions).... Not going to pay somewhere nere a K for two tix to a Neil Peartless RUSH.
  16. 🤘Have it on CD. Heavy Metal Brötz! 🤘
  17. Know him only from the Das Boot soundtrack. RIP.
  18. RIP, I enjoyed much of his Passport and pre-Passport work. He was 89.
  19. Some jazz artists do that too, facepaints and costumes, Art Ensemble Of Chicago, etc. Nothing wrong with some good old showmanship. Music-wise, have no opinion on the group called Kiss.
  20. RIP Klaus Doldinger! This was a favorite of mine in college. I also enjoy this with my man John Mealing, recorded shortly after he left If.
  21. I never dug his Passport period recordings too much but have accumulated most of his 60s Philips albums through the years. Saw him being interviewed on several TV jazz documentaries, and he always struck me as down-to-earth, factual, open-minded, easygoing and a pleasant character in every respect. No big-shot allures, no show-offiness ... RIP and thanks!
  22. ❤️ 😁 Excellent! Got it from Amazon at an very good price.
