  2. I'd be curious to read the booklet/liner notes anyway. Have the original LP and The Hard Blues as part of Coon Bid'ness.
  3. Now playing - probably one of the more unusual sax/guitar duet CDs - André Jaume & Raymond Boni's "Pour Django" (CELP). Boni often uses his guitar it to shade Jaume's sax rather than harmonize with it, giving it a rather "atmospheric" sound in places. I've mentioned this before, but I tried to see Jaume perform live for over 30 years, but he never came anywhere near me - at least in a way that I heard about it. During my first months of retirement a couple of years ago, I actually looked into taking a trip to France just to see him, but I couldn't even find him performing there, making me wonder if he has retired from performing entirely. He is 85, so I shouldn't be too surprised if that's the case.
  4. Decided to listen some Milt Jackson with an ensemble, some great players having a good time! Milt Jackson “Night Mist” Pablo/OJC cd

I will also stick with the one you referenced.
  7. Really enjoy that tune as well. Cool that you were able to see them! I saw Wynn, but long after the Dream Syndicate broke up.

New World is releasing a “definitive” CD reissue of Dogon A.D. https://www.newworldrecords.org/products/julius-hemphill-dogon-ad I will pick a copy up, but anyone would be hard-pressed to best the 2011 International Phonograph edition in my book.

  15. We live in Munson Township, just up the hills from Chardon, and we usually get a little more snow than Chardon. So we have gotten over 102" this season. That's a heavier winter than in over a decade.
  16. My brother Patrick decided to snow bird in Myrtle Beach, SC like my parents did for close to 20 years. Yesterday they got 5 inches of snow. I imagine they'll be shut down for a while. It's not like they have a cadre of snowplows down there.
  17. that finally made it to CD in 2017 (part of the Japanese Mainstream/Solid reissue series)
  18. 1 & 13 are really intriguing, most of the musicians seem familiar to me, I should identify them.
  19. Cold! The city of Chardon is reporting 102" of snow received this winter. We live in the hills above Chardon and usually get a little more. This is a heavy winter indeed. More snow predicted today, perhaps not a lot. I’m getting in on the fun among jazz fans and listening to the final disc in the Tower Records Edition SACD set of Miles Davis “Complete Live at the Plugged Nickel.” Music I’ve enjoyed for decades now.
  20. February 2 James Blood Ulmer - 1942
  21. I liked the show a lot, can understand why someone else wouldn’t. BUT she was incredible in it… indisputable. How did she even come up with that accent.
  22. Saw this again on the big screen a couple of months back. Great stuff. One of my very favorite Brooks's films.
