  2. Lucrecia Dalt "A Danger To Ourselves" -Saw her at Big Ears. Very low key. Not sure why she chose that album cover.
  3. Definitely an "older" crowd here. Not surprising since this form of social media is pretty much dead, but glad we're still hanging on here. I'm 73, retired and in relatively good health (knock on wood). There's always aches and pains and I don't have the vision and hearing I once had - now wear glasses most of the time and have been wearing hearing aids for 3 years (most certainly the result of hundreds of rock concerts over the decades). I still go to see a lot of live music - both jazz and rock (mostly out-of-the-mainstream stuff, which means I go alone). And have been attending the Big Ears festival since 2018 (where I met Nessa👍), which requires a lot of stamina, but me and my same-age friends are still able to handle the long days/nights and constant hustle up and down the streets of Knoxville. My wife and I are the same age and most of my friends are in the same general age group. We like to travel when possible, but it's getting more and more expensive. I must say, turning 70 was kind of an eye-opener, and I still think about it a lot. I don't "feel" 70 (whatever that means) but the existential thought being in my last 1/3 of life is heavy, for sure. I still haven't completely come to grips with it. Nice to hear everyone else's experiences.
  4. In the category: ‘looking goofy?’ 🤪
  5. 82, missing friends and looking forward.
  6. Disc 2 of this. Got a "dented box" version of the 8 CD set very cheap on Ebay. Not for the casual fan, but this stuff has always been in my blood, and this is a fascinating listen if it has the same level of meaning for you.
  7. 👍🏼👍🏼
  8. 63, retired three years ago.

  11. Jimi Hendrix “Valley of Jams” Third Man Records 3 LP set, LP 1
  12. All the best, and enjoy the music - great way to spend a birthday.
  13. Hello all!! I’m still around and just checking in! Hope you all are doing well and listening to a lot of Jazz. I got the new mosaic for my birthday present and will enjoy listening to it with a glass of Amarone! Cheers! Evan (Bright Moments)
  14. I'm 63 and I don't feel old. I fact I feel younger than 5 years ago. Not the body but in spirit. My social network expanded with younger people. With whom I have innocent uncomplicated fun.
  15. Barney Wilen with the Mal Waldron Trio “French Story: Movie Themes from France” Timeless cd
  16. Bartok, Music for Strings, Percussion & Celesta Martinu, Concerto for String Quartet & Orchestra Janacek, Capriccio for Piano Left-Hand & Chamber Ensemble Christoph von Dohnanyi, Cleveland Orchestra (London)
  17. I stopped playing volleyball about 10 years ago shortly after a surgical procedure that left about 6 stitched up holes around my lower stomach area. I tried playing and when I went up to block a spike, my stomach felt like someone punched me. I had to sit down for about 10 minutes. I tried going back in but it still hurt. I think it's been long enough by now that I could possibly try again but I bet I'd suck now. Too slow. Too old. I don't want to be that "old guy who can't play anymore". I remember not really liking playing with guys like that when I was younger.
  18. Agreed.
  19. “Blue Spirits: 85 Years of Blue Note Records Selected by Don Was” Blue Note Japan 2 UHQCD set, disc 1
  20. Terrific music. Terrible cover.
  21. I was playing volleyball about 10 years ago on a concrete court, fell reaching for a ball, and have a plate and 10 screws in my left wrist from the resulting fracture. That was my retirement from participatory sports.
  22. Well apparently what he has on deck are Marion Brown and Ayler recordings he already put out on ezz-thetics just a few years ago, along with some Bix sides, and I'm sure the duplication won't stop there, so this seems like by and large another waste of time. And doubly frustrating as he consistently brings up unreleased Hat tapes as potential source material and then never uses them (the Cecil Taylor and Joe Maneri releases being a couple blessed exceptions). Hopefully someone will be able to do something meaningful with whatever 70s-90s tapes he might be sitting on one day.
