  1. Past hour
  2. I've never studied that cover art before but noticed it also doesn't appear to use that law of thirds that Miles used for his designs. The pic of Larry himself is great though.
  3. Today
  4. But the article has a publication date of 2021 ? Rare, Classic British Jazz To Rise Again In ‘British Jazz Explosion’ Series The series will begin with the deluxe 2LP & 2CD album ‘Journeys In Modern Jazz: Britain (1965-1972).’ Published on June 3, 2021 By Paul Sexton
  5. Honestly a lot of them look fascinating. I picked up the Dorham and the In With The In Crowd books.
  6. Funny, I just looked again — and despite those two filled-in ‘O’ letters bothering me for 20+ years now — I also only JUST noticed that the ‘P’ is filled in too!! (Uugh!!)
  7. Re-listening to disc 5 of this fascinating set. Bob Dylan Bootleg Series Vol. 18, “Through the Open Window”
  8. Wishing you and the project continued and increasing success!!!
  9. This seems be a sampler of the artists featured in the British Jazz Explosion series. As usual, DM's "Storm Warning" is my fave.

  11. Dick Morrissey's son just hipped me to this new bunch of re-issues. I can finally hear "Storm Warning"!. https://www.udiscovermusic.com/news/decca-launches-british-jazz-explosion-series/

  14. Rusty Bryant “Legends Of Acid Jazz” Prestige cd This cd has two of my favorite jazz guitarists on it, Boogaloo Joe Jones, and Melvin Sparks (not together, each on a separate session). Lifting my mood as it should.
  15. This one caught my eye; https://www.upress.state.ms.us/Books/A/Avenue-Breakdown
  16. I bought the Booker Pitman record with the same cover as the book, so that one is smiling at me... "The World's Soprano Sax Nr 1" or something like that, released a few months after Bechet's death ... From what I know, it's a fascinating biography...
  17. The Ellington and James Johnson books look intriguing as well. I thought I saw 2 books on Duke but it was just one. Edit to correct again: there are 2 Ellington books. The second is Jack Chambers Tone Parallel.
  18. New release is from two dates May 12th and 19th. That CD has six tracks from May 12th plus a bunch more from Oslo October 28th.
  19. I did make it to Bob Le Flambeur. I had seen a fair number of French noir or neo-noir films, and I had assumed I had seen this, though it was definitely the first time. A few odd plot holes (Bob had known Marc for years and only just found out he was still pimping -- really?), but generally quite interesting.
