  2. I will catch the Long Ryders at the sala Copérnico in Madrid, next April 23. From my point of view, their recently released disc, "High Noon Hymns", is not as good as the two previous releases, "September November" (2023) and "Psychedelic Country Soul" (2019), but, still, I am expecting a great concert!

  4. April 10 Denny Zeitlin - 1938
  5. reissue on the Japanese Solid label. Great music but absolutely dreadful sound.
  6. If you like the early Heads material you would probably like it. It's the three person original lineup, minus Jerry Harrison. Early demos on one disc, then the CBS demos on the 2nd, and the third disc is live stuff from Max's Kansas City in Oct '76 and Syracuse in Jan '77. The demos sound like demos, but a good representation of where they were before their first album. And the progression from the early ones to the CBS is substantial, too, IMO.
  7. I'm 71, married 33 years this year. Retired at 66 following being laid off after 40 years when Cerner downsized to sell to Oracle (I'm thankful I missed the circus of horrors that has been, and my severance package was twice what the current Oracle packages are for the 30,000 employees they dumped to fund betting the house on AI). For the first time ever, I paid someone to shovel our driveway and clear our walks following an especially bad snow storm here this winter. Thankfully, we're able to still be pretty active as needed, and our house and lot are not particularly large at all. I still mow my own lawn, etc. Biggest unexpected twist to retirement is helping to raise our eight year old grandson (who is awesome) - he and his mom live with us. Thankful for each day of health and clarity I'm granted, and trying to invest the time and energy well. My mom is still alive at 92 and I help care for her also, so I'm seeing the effects of aging through her, but also how she is handling it with grace.

  9. I have up mowing my lawn the year after we moved into our current house and donated my mower. But we have a lot of stuff after 45 years together, even without the music. What the heck, possessions are only temporary, they end up in others’ hands or in the landfill. Off to Goodwill and the used book/music store soon.

  13. I had just asked him what it was like playing on the Teddy Edwards session with Billy Higgins. He thanked me for the reminder. No idea why he's pointing at me other than that it might be good for captioning ideas.

  17. Ogunquit is one town north of me. It's a nice little town. We go there often, particularly to visit their restaurants. We have been missing our Canadian friends lately. There used to be a lot of Canadian tourists visiting our beaches down here in Maine but not last year and not likely this year either.
  18. When I was growing up in New Brunswick Canada people (not me) would vacation in Ogunquit which is down your way I believe.
