Thanks very much, Dan! The cd arrived yesterday in tip top shape. I opened it up today. My kind of music! Great lineup. -
Amy Banks “In the Spirit” self-released cd followed by “Salina Jones sings Jobim with the Jobims” Vine Gate cd Wow, I haven’t listened to this one in some time and that’s a shame. Antonio loves the desert Antonio prays for rain Antonio knows that pleasure is the child of pain

Shabaka at The Barbican Not entirely convinced by this presentation of his new direction -
Also my understanding. In fact addressed in the 3CD set liner notes.

In 1996 Blue Note had released a 3 cd set of material from the nights at the Lighthouse--the originally released material and some additional. https://www.discogs.com/release/4525810-Lee-Morgan-Live-At-The-Lighthouse Then years later, this most recent 8 cd set was released of the entire material recorded.

Frank Hewitt - WE LOVED HIM (on smalls records)

Reactivating an old thread, but getting on top of my mess of CDs, I replayed 3 Frank Hewitt recordings. This track really jumped out, Night in Tunisia, sounds so odd and original. I almost thought he’s got the changes wrong but it’s so deliberate and different. Wow. Interesting story in the sleevenotes about Hewitt visiting Bud Powell, who was half naked and playing Embraceable You. Hewitt leaving and coming back hours later to Powell playing Embraceable You, half naked. Anyone still listening to this genius? -
Yes, that was what I was thinking of but I'm confused because I'm not sure what 3CD set the original poster is referring to other than the Fresh Sound release. Does that make sense? Thanks.
-
I think that is incorrect. There was another release (unofficial) from Fresh Sounds that was put out as from the Lighthouse. . . but was not. I think that is the item you are thinking of. https://www.allmusic.com/album/release/live-at-the-lighthouse-fresh-sound-mr0001422739

Delicical Claviclosa - Them's The Breaks

I have both sets as well but I remember reading somewhere (maybe the liner notes of the 8cd release?) that the 3cd set was not recorded at the Lighthouse but I think another club called the And/Or (or something like that). Am I wrong about this?
-
I own both the 3CD and 8CD versions, which each have different purposes for me. 2LP set was the first jazz album I ever bought in 1972.

Drummer Roger Humphries is someone I mainly associate with some of Horace Silver's excellent Blue Note recordings of the 60's. Humphries is also on the delightful Carmell Jones album - "Jay Hawk Talk" with Jimmy Heath, Barry Harris and George Tucker.
