  1. He was also an decent actor, seemed to be a nice man and was easy to work with. His brother Finis was another story.
  2. Had the extreme pleasure of working with Randy - he is a prince. Here is a pic courtesy of Mark Sheldon.
  3. Thanks to "alankin" for pointing me to this ancient thread. Ann and I view vacations as an opportunity to connect with friends far and wide, and hope to connect with some folks via this place. We will be in Iceland April 12-17 for some Roscoe Mitchell events involving the Symphony - don't remember if we have some Icelanders here. Our July trip will probably be more fruitful - we "river cruise" from Amsterdam to Budapest and then travel to Prague. This is a 2 week + journey with lots of stops. Some new connections would be interesting.
  4. :-)
  5. both pretty good.
  6. I was lucky enough to hear Mingus bands a few times in that era.
  7. Your repeated postings showing the Schneider Quartet set remind me to pull if off the shelf and continue working my way through these glorious recordings.
  8. I am partial to his 2 Prestige/Swingville dates reissued on this disc:
  9. 90% of the rolls we have were taken by my wife Ann at concerts and the Chicago Jazz Festival in the '80s.
  10. Find a professional photography studio - they do exist. We have about 50 undeveloped rolls and hope some of them can be salvaged after all this time.
  11. I feel better now.
  12. Learned of him from the George Russell recordings, as did most of us. Met him when we moved to Bloomington in '68 and had numerous encounters over the years, My friend Charles Tyler kept pulling my shirt tail in David's direction. Nice man with important work. No better epitaph in my world. Thanks.
  13. I sold something like 9000 lps to finance the Art Ensemble box and subsequent cd reissues. A giant mixture of pleasure and regret.
  14. Some of the stuff on Horo. The Bowie and the MEV are the biggest regrets.
  15. Wish I could hear that group.
  16. These are Vogue recordings licensed by BN back in the day.
  17. Disc was a label associated with Moses Asch, Folkways, Stinson etc. Norman Granz issued the first JATP recordings on Disc.
  18. Unlike you, I have enough - my "extra mile" with Bill was "The Last Waltz".
  19. A huge favorite in this household as well.
