  1. And the stereo source material for Griffin's "A Blowin' Session" was..................
  2. First time I met Orrin Keepnews I thanked him for the Ernie Henry dates. He said "Really! I always thought he was a lost cause like Johnny Lytle". FWIW Keepnews pronounced it Lie tell, as has everyone else I've heard say the name.
  3. I have the Bird stuff on an Alamac lp and used to have the rest on a dandy IAJRC record. Never bought the cd. Sorry I can't help.
  4. RVGs? RVGs will replace a minority of the stuff being offered. Pay close attention to the labels and the engineers. I woud add if you can get a K2 of a new or potential RVG, it's (at best) even money on the sonic winner.
  5. What rule instructs you to listen to them all at once?
  6. Worktime is not listed on the SALE page, but it is on sale. As was Boss Tenor. Yes, I found it via an artist search - and they say it shipped.
  7. The "funny rat thread" is into "inbreeding" and is of little interest to regular humans.
  8. I'm reminded of an evening (in the '60s) while driving on the south side of Chicago. One half of the couple in the back seat pointed out the window and asked "What's behind that fence". Knowing it was an old cemetery I said "Hundreds and hundreds of dead Negroes". Not sure why this moment popped into my head but there it is.
  9. In the photo it looks like John Hammond is picking your pocket.
  10. 11. Most important to me is speed. Is the tape/record/cd "up to speed" to get the correct signal? Everything after that is "gravy" and it depends on what you want to spend on gravy.
  12. Very nice.
  13. IIRC the track lists were the same for old and new cd editions, at least the US versions. Edit to say I'm certain about the JJ, less sure about the Monks.
  14. Did anyone inform Mr Audubon we spotted another loon?
  15. Interplay is/was(?) owned by Tosh Taenaka. I understand the "possession" of the tapes is a jumbled mess as the result of an ugly divorce. I have also heard Toshiya is in poor health.
  16. Thanks for sharing that. All the best to you and your loved ones.
  17. My tracking number delivers: Jul 18, 2006 12:26 PM Departed FedEx location SACRAMENTO, CA No record after that. Pray for all of us.
  18. By way of a prize, he gets 500,000 added to his post count--right? Nah, he just gets his option picked up for another year. AND full forum privileges.
  19. Many reasons mentioned are part of the deal but I'd bet the real reason it's going away is they ran out of books and boxes. The reprinting cost would not be supported by sales.
  20. Sounds like you had an imposter.
  21. In my previous post I neglected to say Malachi was always a fine gentleman (in the best way) and a fine musician. I think his best quality was as a salesman for HIS music. Not a bad thing at all. Rest in peace Mr. Thompson.
  22. About a month ago (June 19) Uncle Skid and I were in the Delmark studio and Steve Wagner explained the studio was a mess (organ and monitors in the hallway, etc) because Malachi had been recording his big band.
  23. My Vol. 2 has the same design.
