  1. The Revenant reissue seems to be horribly out-of-print, but why have none of the out-of-copyright Euro labels like Document or Proper done anything? Does Revenant plan to reissue the re-issue?
  2. Then shit on his chest and run away.
  3. An 18-year-old Jackson Browne boinked Nico????
  4. Well, I sent you 12 bucks for Jews n' Hell
  5. It was a live concert that convinced me to check out all I could of Iyer's work.
  6. that's an awfully confident statement and an odd number to make it about, curious what makes you so sure. the low dollar certainly will help, but 3700+ copies of a $110+ set is a lot. the 5 CD Art Ensemble box Chuck Nessa put out in 1993 was available until pretty recently, that was an edition of 2500 copies. The Mosaic "cachet" , glossy catalog, and much more saturated marketing/distribution than what Chuck could afford should guarantee more/faster sales, or I'll eat my hat.
  7. Kermit Schafer blooper: "The great Eddie Playbody will now pee for you"
  8. Re: Pere Ubu, "30 Seconds over Tokyo" would be a great vehicle for improvisation!
  9. Paul is dead. Miss him, miss him. Paul is dead. Miss him, miss him.
  10. That's awesome, Chris. I really like what little of Haack's stuff I've heard. There's also a video documentary on him, but I haven't seen it yet.
  11. You should eBay it and at least profit from your asshole "friend".
  12. "Eugene" is one of my favorites, too, but I haven't heard it in quite a while.
  13. MORE LIKE "BUXOM" AM I RITE??????
  14. The Joe Harriott reissues on Redial: Abstract and Free Form were probably the two jazz albums I listened to most this year.
  15. This Heat's "Out of Cold Storage" box set over anything else.
  16. Are you my doppelganger? "The Last Dog and Pony Show" was my last Mould album, and I thought he was phoning it in, and I loved "Good News For Modern Man". I've had no desire to check out Bob's "electronica" album or any of his DJ sets here in DC. I fear they would be the club music kin to Moby's punk rock attempts.
  17. Ohhhhh my.
  18. Maybe a seller with a huge Gas-bill. He's listing it again! NB: He's also violating ebay policy by having a seller name that is also a URL.
  19. Mary Lou Williams' Mama Pinned a Rose on Me, which was released just before the buyout, never made it either.
  20. Jessica Pavone, Mary Halvorson, Taylor Ho Bynum at An Die Musik in Baltimore.
  21. All I know about the Bad Plus is what I read in the papers, but I came in with an open mind. I was unimpressed with the originals (can't remember them to save my life), and I thought they did nothing with the covers. I was nonplussed to see they got a standing O when Moran didn't. The presenter was terrible, implying that Jason Moran and the Bad Plus were doing "In My Mind" together, which may have explained why half he audience left during intermission.
  22. I saw this Sunday night in Washington DC, one night after the piece's world premiere at Duke University as part of that Thelonious Monk fest they've been having in NC. Incorporating film, recorded voices (Monk and others), and creative lighting, it was certainly not a "recreation" of the 1959 Town Hall gig. Monk's tunes were played by an Octet including members of the Bandwagon and Ralph Alessi; Moran's piano playing avoided outright imitation. There was humor in the presentation especially in the snippets of Monk conversation throughout the show, and a long recorded excerpt from what might have been rehearsals for the Town Hall show. Overall I found it very moving and free of cliche. Anyone else see it?
  23. I'm pretty sure Concord's roster was almost entirely people who had paid their dues and were no longer on major labels, maybe with the exception of Scott Hamilton.
  24. I see a truckload of "Beavis and Butthead Experience" cut-outs that say otherwise.
  25. I'd be all over that, but it's probably in French
