  1. Now you got me thinking... Looks like there may be a 9 CD set of George Russell... http://www.camoriginalsoundtracks.com/site/index.php?site=&path=artist&idartist=7532 I don't have any Russell.. Would i like this?????
  2. The Complete Remastered Recordings on Black Saint & Soul Note of..... Enrico Piernanuzi... Disc 4 - Flux & Change - Live Duo Recording with Paul Motian... I have to say I liked all 4 of the new boxes.. but this and the Rava to me are the best!!!! Given the price - a great value!
  3. Of course there's Dave Douglas' Greenleaf Music which has its own subscriber series for several artists.. (mostly Dave though..) www.greenleafmusic.com I've ordered a lot his stuff through there... Loved the Quintet Live at the Jazz Standard the Full Book from a few years back.....!!! :tup :tup http://www.greenleafmusic.com/store/productdetail.php?p=36
  4. Went down to a local Newbury Comics and came home with this take.... 1. McCoy Tyner - Trident 2. Johnny Griffin - White Gardenia 3. Mal Waldron - Mal 4 4. On Stage - Farlow/Jones/Norvo/Hanna & Ray Brown 5. Art Farmer - On the Road 6. Cedar Walton - Spectrum 7. Oscar Peterson - Skol (SACD) 8. Art Pepper - Getting Together (SACD) 9. Lee Konitz - Satori 10. Art Pepper - Arthur's Blues.. Total - $46.90....   (all new except the Tyner for about $4 or $5 each)... THAT (and my long ass listening queue) should tide me over for a while...
  5. Oh okay.. sounds like its' legit... thanks I didn't see a smiley, so I'm proceeding under the assumption you don't know this. Bill Graham's real name was Wolfgang Grajonka. When he presented concerts, he had in the contracts the right to tape the concerts; these are the tapes.
  6. Who the hell is Wolfgang anyway and why does HE have these??? I'm assuming the artists aren't getting paid????
  7. I would have to agree with you... Lord knows if ANYONE else put out 7 CD's of Bing Crosby... I would just kept on clicking the mouse....
  8. I'm not sure this one is still in print... Any other recommendations??? thanks again.
  9. I'm not that familiar with the music which would be on this set... If I was going to purchase one CD to get a taste of what it's like, what would you recommend?? thanks
  10. The interesting thing is that it appears that most of the sets which had a significant amount of unreleased material were the early sets... I'm suspecting that this is just coincidental. The Teagarden Roulette set had an album's worth of unreleased material from the Round Table sessions. I think it's still available too--some very nice stuff there! gregmo
  11. That is very cool... Of the top of my head that seems like that most unreleased stuff I've seen before......, I mean I don't remember any Mosaic set having 2CDs of unreleased stuff before... Am I wrong about that one? It appears that either this set will include a lot of un-issued material, or there will be more recordings included than the ones that Hans lists (perhaps including the Impulse! sessions?). I am hoping for the former. The set will include Jamal's Argo/Chess sessions only, no Impulse! dates. As mentioned on this Mosaic page, there'll be 23 unissued sides.
  12. Play, piano, play is REALLY hard to get... I haven't found a good online source... Do you have one? Shawn, if you are interested in all of her previous albums, dont forget these two: I recommend both.
  13. I knew that.. but to my knowledge its just working its way stateside now... Tranemonk, please let me correct you. Musical Moments was released on August 2009 and I strongly recommend.
  14. what's that??? I don't get it.... TMI, perhaps?
  15. For those of you who remember her.. a young extremely talented pianist from Japan who emerged in the mid 1990's. Her last main record was "Fragile," which was put out in 1999 and VERY unlike her previous releases... She's back with a new CD.. and its slamming... :excited: :excited: I have almost of her stuff and have loved her. I caught her at the 1997 Montreal Jazz Festival in which she gave an amazing trio performance.. She apparently disappeared from the scene for 7 years and just came out with this one... (Got it as a Japanese import from tower.com).... I'm a happy camper.....!
  16. She is/was one of the original voices... ever...
  17. I think I got my order in under the radar.. Got a shipping notice a few days ago.... :blush2: :blush2: :blush2:
  18. I'm still waiting on my request for a Cal Mosaic!!! (that and that damn Betty Carter Select they won't issue.... <_< )
  19. Out next week... what do you think? http://www.cduniverse.com/productinfo.asp?pid=8195076 I don't have any of the original titles but it's a nice price.... For those of you who do have the originals... Is it worth it??? I'm not a big Lockjaw fan... but......
  20. Two things... 1) I have seen Holland probably over 1 dozen times since he created this quintet (e.g, Potter, Eubanks, etc.) and its variations... I am finding a "sameness" to his music (both live and in the studio). I will say I thought the big band was MUCH better and interesting... 2) Regarding the premium edition... VERY Disappointing! I was hoping for some extra music (like another CD).. You basically get some artistic postcards and a signed t-shirt... Really not worth it...
  21. Now Disc 3... the String Band Session... Wow I guess we're all on the same wave length... Just broke this open also.. and I am enjoying it... loved that first album from the box! not quite as convinced of the rest of the box, but that one is really fun... Just playing that first one... fun indeed! Will report elsewhere how I'll like the rest...
  22. What 16CD set?
  23. thanks Ron... looks good!
