I'm going to ignore that last comment... But I found the Sarah set to be very uneven... Some great stuff and some stuff they really could have left out.. Sarah Vaughan makes me cry. Beats the crap out of Wynton making you cry.

Just got my email from Concord that my 'Trane set was shipped.... I'm extremely excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm really looking forward to digesting this over a few weeks!! For $70!!!!!

I do recommend the Stitt set... to me it's not a great discount... but if you are ordering one of the larger sets... (Capitol Jazz in my case...), Stitt or Vaughn it does make a difference...

I called them on Friday and they said my order had gone to the warehouse for shippning but the guy couldn't tell me whether or not they were sold out!!! I don't know... I ordered it a week ago and haven't received it yet; not even a shipping email has been sent Me neither, but reading others people's shipping experience, we should be getting notification either Tuesday or Wednesday -- I hope.....

I ordered... I have to assume it's not sold out.. otherwise why would they keep it on the site??? And yes I should read the posts before asking the same question...

Finished listening to the set last week and yes I concur... the Steve Allen comments were woefully embarrassing... The irony is.. wasn't Steve Allen (back then) supposed to be one of few people on TV that were knowledgeable about jazz??? His commentary is really bad... BUT... Disc 4 is great.... I had Discs 1-3 but traded them in and got the set... It's a very nice addition... On a related note... Anybody (other than me) getting the 16CD Coltrane Set on Prestige for the absurd price of $69.99???? http://store.concordmusicgroup.com/mm5/mer...LL-SETS&Offset= At $4 a CD it's impossible (for me) to pass up... and I read somewhere that this is going OOP (and that's why they are getting rid of the set for such a ridiculous price....

I have a frustrating problem... I have to keep the Mosaic booklets in the attic since I have no other place for them... which means... that when I play a set I often don't read the booklet... What do you do???

look... I know that Andrew Hill was a BN artist for a long time... and they keep finding unreleased stuff (like this upcoming Select...) Although Michel was including the synthesizer thing during his BN period.. I'm crossing my fingers that someone at BN was taping him solo or trio like at the Vanguard or something... It's not out of the realm of possibility... AND... I think if Mosaic came out with a Select of unreleased live trio recordings... I am confident that it would do well...

I'm 99% sure its under Lloyd's name and OOP.. like A Night in Copenhagen....

I just watched another documentary of him and once again wondered at his majesty. I greatly miss him. He was an inspiration in that he played and saw so much beauty in spite of/because of his handicap and disease. I just love the guy. I know Blue Note put out a 7 cd box a long time ago on his Blue note recordings... (which IMHO are not his best recordings...) So I called Mosaic and asked them (AGAIN) if they had any plans to release either the 7CD set again or ANYTHING that's not in print... They said "there's no interest." It appears that Dreyfus may have rights on his stuff since they routiney come out with a Michel release every year/18 months ago... I'm just looking for some love/help lobbying to get Cuscuna to find some unreleased live stuff and/or work out a deal with Dreyfus....!!! Can I a get some help???? And what's your favorite Michel record??? I have to say the 2CD Au Theatre Des Champs Elysees is my fave... Followed very closely by the 3CD Concerts Inedits set... (Thank you to Dreyfus for putting this stuff out!!!)

Got the set but haven't cracked it open yet... It's on my list.... Sounds promising...

Ironically enough... (even if my thread isn't good enough... ) I'm very interested in the Hill Solo stuff... I tend to be lukewarm on him in general... but the recently purchased "Pax" was interesting and the Select was uneven (IMHO) but intriguing... I've got one a FREEDOM Recording on a West German import... of him Live (solo) at Montreux on July 20 1975 (ironically produced by Cuscuna... and Alan Bates....) and I'm giving that a spin now.... so I'll have a better sense of what would be on the Select.... Will report more later.... -_- -_-
