  1. means that I bought the Mosaic CD box. I did not think that this set was ever offered in heavenly vinyl.Correct? LWayne Wrong. It was also released (in 1998) as a Mosaic 10LP-set; it went OOP a long time ago.
  2. The set is available from Amazon Marketplace sellers on all the Amazon sites I've visited (U.S., U.K., Germany, France), but the prices are pretty high.
  3. This is the cover of the 2CD-set:
  4. Don't know about a Mac, but it's a general rule of thumb to uninstall software rather than just delete it, if that's what you're saying you did. Uninstalling should get rid of register keys, DLL files, etc, Of course, that's what should happen, not what always does, but it's still the way to get rid of a program you'll no longer be wanting. So how I do uninstall software? PC or Mac?
  5. I second the recommendation for the Ayler Jimmy Lyons box.
  6. This may not be exactly what you're looking for, but the Mosaic Reinhardt set has duets with Stéphane Grappelli (plus solo and quintet recordings) and it's legit.
  7. Your thread - with responses - is here.
  8. You apparently misunderstood my response - I wasn't telling you what a CD-R is, I was merely pointing out that CD-Rs of certain albums are "manufactured on demand" by Amazon; I thought you were asking about that. The album was reissued on CD in 1995 and that one is now OOP. It's available from Amazon Marketplace sellers, as you can see when you click on the link in my earlier post. It might be a good idea to ask a seller what they're selling before placing an order, the 1995 CD (Blue Note 31247) or the CD-R.
  9. It was probably "manufactured on demand" - see the "CD-R note" on Amazon and click on "Learn more":
  10. I looked at the Cds and it doesn't say in the booklet or tray notes who did the remastering. I wouldn't be surprised if Wounded Bird just used the existing masters for these reissues. It's what they usually do. See the comments in posts #21 and #22.
  11. No.
  12. I had the Japanese LP (GXF-3057) many years ago; I can't say I remember much of this date, but with the Kenny Burrell/ Stanley Turrentine tandem you can hardly go wrong.
  13. Vogue was part of BMG and became part of Sony/BMG when those two merged. I don't think Sony took over Vogue
  14. That's in the South Netherlands. Too far away for me (I'm in the North).
  15. I don't agree. To my ears the tonality of the discs that were mastered by Alan Yoshida is better than the tonality of the CD-layers of the hybrid SACDs that were mastered by Steve Hoffman.
  16. Audio Wave's Joe Harley posted on the Hoffman forum some time ago that they are thinking about an XRCD version of Burrell's Freedom.
  17. Surely you must have seen this thread.
  18. Thanks for posting that, David. I knew about a possible Coleman Hawkins Select with his RCA recordings from the late 1930s onwards, but I'm glad they changed their mind and are now planning a big set that will include 1920s to mid-1940s Sony and BMG-owned dates and several sessions that are now in the public domain. Good news about a big set with the Jimmie Lunceford Decca sides too, especially for those who don't have the OOP French Masters of Jazz CDs which cover the same era (and more). Has there been public mention already of the Lunceford Decca set? I thought that there had been, which is why I described that item as an update. Yes, the Lunceford had been mentioned before.
  19. I hadn't realised the Clare Fischer Select had gone, it's one of my favourites. Still, I'm surprised that it has sold out when some of the other (more popular?) sets are still around. Was it a 5000 copy set? There never was a Clare Fischer Select. You are both probably referring to The Pacific Jazz Piano Trios Select with sessions under the leadership of Russ Freeman, Richard Twardzik, Jimmy Rowles and (indeed) Clare Fischer. Most of Fischer's recordings for PJ were originally released on 2 albums, 3 songs remained unissued; his complete PJ output can be found on the Select. I was a bit careless; it was indeed the "Piano Trios" Select I was referring to. To clarify, perhaps we should say that it's Clare Fischer's trio albums on Pacific Jazz that are on the Mosaic Select. There are also the albums "Extension" and "Manteca" for larger band. Yes, I did indeed mean his PJ trio albums, but didn't specify because I was referring to the PJ Piano Trios Select Yep, it was one of the victims.
  20. The Argo album Relaxin' with Sandy Mosse was reissued on CD in Japan in 1999. It's long OOP.

  22. If you payed by credit card through paypal, you can initiate a claim with the credit card company. That's indeed an option if you paid by credit card through PayPal and your claim isn't honoured by PayPal, but I've read somewhere (don't remember where exactly) that PayPal may close your account if you do that.
  23. I like the Demon CDs for their sound and the Rhino discs for their content. I don't like the Rykos.
  24. The Rhino CDs are not the same as the Demons. The Demon CDs (the ones with the FIEND prefixes) came first, the Rhino discs are later remasters.
